1938 Massey-Harris 25 (Styled) for sale

For Sale:  1938 Massey-Harris 25 (Styled)   s/n 74634

Here is a project tractor for someone who would like to have a tractor that not many other people have.  Just not very many Styled 25 tractors out there.  I bought this tractor at a local auction to keep the junk man from getting it.  I am currently over my self-imposed limit on number of tractors here, so I need to let some go.  A current evaluation of the number of projects I have in front of me, and where my stronger interests are headed, I have decided to let somebody else have the fun of restoring this tractor.

I know very little about it beyond what you can see in the photos.  The engine is not stuck.  The “cog nut” for the hand crank is missing from the front of the crankshaft, but you can turn it over with the fan belt.  It has the Robin manifold, which is busted at the very top where it would feed into the exhaust pipe.  The bottom oil sump has the front broken out of it, as so many of the u-frames have had happen, due to condensed water freezing in the sump.  Fortunately, the broken off end is in the toolbox, available for repair.

As shown on the photo of the carb, there is no bowl on the carb.  However, I did find the bowl and float also in the tool box.  Do not know if the float is any good.  The front wheels are good but the tires are not much.  The left front tire holds air over long periods of time.  The right front goes down.  The rear wheels on the tractor are cut-offs and are junk, as are the rear tires.  I do have a nice set of factory round spoke wheels for the rear which could be purchased with the tractor.  There is no hood.  Fenders are what I would call fairly typical for a tractor in this condition.  Far from the worst I have seen.  Might be repairable for the clever body man.  I would go with Ervin Chew reproductions (along with a new hood) if I were restoring it.

If you were here for Massey Days you might have looked at this tractor sitting in the “dead row” behind the barn.

Selling price on the tractor as it sits:  $1,200
Selling price for the tractor plus the round spoke rear wheels:  $1,800 ($600 for the wheels)

Prefer not to sell the wheels without the tractor at this time.  I think whomever wants the tractor will want those round spoke wheels to go with it.

The tractor is located in Shelby County, Indiana.  If you need help for delivery we can discuss potential options there.

If you have any other questions, please ask.

Thanks,

JB
