RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Joe

It looks like your Bear has done a "runner" like a few more Bears at the moment, Cub 1624 is nearing completion and the guy finishing it thought it had never seen it's Bear for a many years, so produced him a copy of the Yuma photographs and it was on there when it left AZ, so mine has done a "runner" to the foundry so he can see "where he is heading"

Alan,

When I read your post many days ago I got my book out and the prfix "E" is for "Engines" with "large" in brackets, so I was expectting to see a piece from a large gas engine, well looking at your photograph I can't think where that would fit on an engine? it almost looks like a shin wearing piece of a plough? as you know they were prefixed "P" so just wondering if it is a casting flaw on the letter??? is the E clear Alan?
Another very nice piece of cast iron Massey memorabilia.

Malcolm.

Here's a board full of early MF tools - some of them special service tools

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Alan,

I have checked on my spare plough shins and the marking is PE as shown on this photo - hope it's clear enough.  I think yours will be the same if you scrub it up!

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Malcolm and John,
Thanks for your help. Yes I'm sure you are right it is a plough shin. The "E" is resonably clear but there is just a bit of rough casting where the "P" should be. Either rusted away or was never there properly.
Thanks
Alan

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

A slight change of direction today but something relevant to the cast iron memorabilia which I keep in the same shed. It is a Massey-Harris spare parts counter mat and the only one I have ever seen.  It is made from rubber and shown here mounted on a piece of plywood so that it stands upright.  It was originally from an MH dealer in mid Wales.

Here is a more recent MF spare parts counter mat - I found it at a show in N America a few years ago

E 242 is listed in the parts books as a part on a Push Harvester.

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Keith I think the part i have is missing the P off the #. Thanks anyway. What is a Push Harvester. Alan

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

This is the third of the spare parts counter mats I have.  I relieved our local MF dealer of it a couple of years ago.  This is of the AGCO era with, sadly, MF only getting a bit part of the scenery!  It's not nearly as robust as the previous two being made of a sort of foam covered in a togh top skin.

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Back to real iron tonight - but this time a board full of "small" iron.  It's a collection of very small MH bits and pieces from MH implements and machines that I have collected over the years.  Maybe you will recognise and be able to identify some of them.
