RE:Another Duane Drohman Auction

Hi Malcolm,

Unfortunately, one K is enough!! Wish I could have been there.  I did talk to Tub last night and he was very pleased with the auction.  He, too, thought the six MH 44s lined up where pretty neat!! The only tractor he was somewhat disappointed in was the Super 90 LP.  He said he "lost" money on it!!  Of course, if you know Tub, he remembers every tractor, where it came from, what he paid for it and when he bought it!!

He also said the weather was great - near 60 and sunny for the auction.  It went south after that. He said it did not get above 35 yesterday.  I can appreciate that since it is about that in Indiana today with snow trying to blow around!!

He said there were over 500 people registered for the auction.  And they came from everywhere!!  It was a much better auction that the first one, so it appears.

I warned him that this auction is nothing compared to when he sells the "good stuff"!! He laughed!!

RE:Another Duane Drohman Auction

The one 101 Super that wasn't Tub's and was a little tough. No fenders, No side panels, bent and rusty hood and fuel tank, wrong rear wheels, etc. $1000 was probably plenty.

I helped run up the 44 High Altitude but didn't come up with last bid. I was interested in a couple others but never but never jumped in. I guess  it wasn't my day to buy a tractor.

It was an enjoyable day none the less. Saw some old friends, made some new friends and hauled a nice stub nosed 59 Chevy straight truck to my place for one of them. It was like pulling a sailboat heading into the stiff east wind.

Pedal to the metal, both uphill and downhill.

Malcom - I do like your thoughts of having a pair of "Ks".  The price seemed very reasonable at $2,100.  If I was there I would have probably been raising my hand.  I guess now I have more $$ for kids college educations!

RE:Another Duane Drohman Auction

Drew,

Your comments of "raising your hand" at auction makes me think about the time my dad and I went to a tractor auction in Suffolk around 1982, I so wanted to buy the Wallis Cub Junior one of three British survivors known at that time, my dad was the underbidder at £1,400, being just 21 years of age I so wanted to raise my hand more, but as you know you have to take notice of your dad, spare pocket money for tractors was tight and £1,500 was a lot then.

It has taken me 30 years to recover from that so hope it doesn't take you 30 years to find some more Kerosene M-H tractors.

Malcolm.

RE:Another Duane Drohman Auction

Don't worry, Malcolm.  At the Patterson auction I was bidding on an item for an individual and had met my limit.  The auctioneer was still looking at me (I thought) and taking the bids.  Next thing I knew the auctioneer said "Sold" looking my way.  Only then did I realize that after I was done Drew took it on and we brought the nice item home!!

As long as it his money I don't mind storing nice MH items!!  (Mack trucks might be a different story!!!)
