RE:M-H Barn Equipment.

Joe seems to be very quiet, maybe he is watching the Massey Stove get up to temperature? or possibly he has not had time to open the parcel so here is a glimpse of the flour.

Only a week to go now to your big Massey bake sale in Iowa.

RE:M-H Barn Equipment.

Well we know that Malcolm has to have an engine or a tractor or an electric motor running to pollute the environment whilst he is grinding his wheat.  What about getting back to basics and get back into hand grinding to save the environment and keep yourself fit.  This tabe top MH No. 4 table top mill achieves just that.  Bolt it on to the kitchen table and mill exactly the quantity you want straight into the pudding or cake bowl.  No leftovers going stale in the packet.  Fresh as nature intended it.

I picked this up in Canada about three years ago and we regularly mill some rye for rye bread.  How about that for healthy living?

The photo refused to go up last time so here's hoping this second time

RE:M-H Barn Equipment.

Malcolm:

I am awake and alive!! Just took this long to find the ingreadence needed for the bread. I have not made home made bread in more than 35 years so this is quite an expeirence for me!! I did not want to try my first loaves with the Speltz you sent me so I am doing a couple trial runs with Wheat flour, if I master that I will try the Speltz flour.

I tried to get a hold of Steve & Sandy for use of the Massey Harris stove but got no answer, Probably a good thing as there may still be bugs, sand, and cobwebs in the stove from Yuma yet.

Just sitting here waiting for my dough to rise now then I have to Knead it back down one more time before I put ii in the pans to let it rise again so I can put it in the oven.

Went to an auction yesterday to buy a cultivator for a Massey GP but couldn't bring myself to bid against friends as I already had one like this but on this auction there was a Massey Harris Mill!! I was just as shocked to see this as they were but I did not have any tools with to take it apart to get it out of the building so did not bid on it but it did go to a good home and I am sure you will see it at the show this fall in Baraboo. Here are some pics I snapped of it.

RE:M-H Barn Equipment.

Ok....... For all you Non Believers out there.... Here is some evidence that this is actually taking place and just not a bunch of Hoo Hoo...

Malcolm you will be very happy to see the special touch I put into these loaves to make them Truely M H bread!!

I got the dough all kneaded down again and seperated into the pans and put the special touch on them, now just waiting for them to rise again so I can pop them into the oven.

Don't Know if this is going to work or not but they look pretty cool at this point, Just hope I don't burn them because my oven is not the most accurate on the temp so will have to keep a keen eye on it.

For those of you wondering what the white cup with the orange stuff is, I found this baking thing goes a lot easyier with a little Grey Goose Vodka and Orange juice in your system if you don't believe me just try it it really works.

RE:M-H Barn Equipment.

Endresult.........OK for me not making home made bread in over 35 years is just like pulling a hand crank tractor out of an old shed that has been sitting for 35 years. You may get lucky and put gas in it, pull the choke and crank it twice and it is up and running but you may also have to work at it a bit before you get the results you set out to achieve.

In the case of my bread makeing I think I got the basics down but need a bit of practice before opening up a bakery. Here are a couple pictures of my trial run, they appear a bit dark  and they are but this is Wheat flour used so it should be a bit dark but not this dark. Next time I am going to lower the tempeture about 50 degreese and maybe pull it out a couple minutes earlier.

I am smart enough to notice that three of the loaves collapsed on the top and the 4th one did a bit also, Is this from letting them rise too long?? Is there anyone out there that can give me some pointers on that problem??

The smell of cooking this is awesome and the taste of the crust is pretty good for being a little on the overdone side but the inside of the loaf is perfect.

If you click on the picture of the loaf that is cut it will get much bigger for you to see and if you put your nose up close to your computer screen you should be able to smell it..........

Here are some pics of it after it has risen then after it was done. I have learned alot from this expierence and will not gripe about the price of bread again now that I know how much work goes into it.

RE:M-H Barn Equipment.

Joe,

Well what a surprise I got late last night when I got back from our first indoor tractor show of the season at Malvern, I just had to switch on the computer and check out the MCA website and what a weekend you have had too, I must say I am very impressed with your domestic skills Joe with great attention to detail like the M-H on the top of the bread.

I must say from what I have seen on here now I truely beleive I got the easy end of this deal and sincerely hope you all give Joe a big "show of hands" and three cheers when you all get an opportunity to not only taste but BUY some of his great M-H bread, it just shows from a  few words of fun what can be acheived in the world of Massey Collectors, we are a diverse bunch of people.

Please keep us posted of your developments this week and have a great wekend in Iowa, I will be watching closely for the pictures being posted and to hear the results. Just wish I could smell the bread over here.

Malcolm.
