The Smyth sale

I thought I would put some photos of items that were on sale at George and Barb Smyth's sale two days before the Pailey Expo.  It certainly was an excellent sale - pure M-H!  George had collected a varied lot of items over his collecting years and they were all well dieplayed in a large shed (smaller iteems) and outside (tractors etc).  I will make a few posts to give you photo examples of what was on offer.  Here is the first batch.

Here's another batch of equipment that was on offer at the sale before I disappear for the weekend.  Enjoy these rare items!

RE:The Smyth sale

Here are some more grogeous MH items from the Smyth sale.  I must say that I was surprised that so few of you US members did not come to the sale and MH Expo at Paisley (very neraby to the sale).  You all missed a great sale with a definitive collection of historical machines.

RE:The Smyth sale

Here are more of the Massey-Harris treasures that were on sale at the George and Barb Smyth auction in August.  Very sad to watch a sale of this comprehensive collection of MH equipment being dispersed but I suppose that these things are inevitable and hoepfully most of the equipment was moved on to equally enthusiastic collectors.  I was lucky enough to buy some items to haul back to this side of the Atlantic.

Five more of the Smyth's Massey-Harris treasures to feast your eyes upon!  Also two of the famous logos that went with these machines.

RE:The Smyth sale

The more that I browse through these photos of the Smyth's sale the more I realise what an astonishing and comprehensive collection of MH eqipment George and Barb had built up over the years - a real credit to them.  The whole collection was a snapshot through Massey history such as we have not seen since the 150th anniversay event of Massey held at the Onatario Agricultural Museum in 1997.  The selection of older and smaller barn and horse drawn equipment could surely not be equalled anywhere?  Anyway - here are some more shots of what was on offer

RE:The Smyth sale

Tonight we move on to some MF items offered at the Smyth sale - very interesting and quite a comprehensive collection of garden tractors.  The sign was magnificent but sadly it had been left outside I think and had deteriorated quite a bit since I first saw it many years ago.

RE:The Smyth sale

It has been a busy two months for me and not had any time to post on here.

Thanks John for the photographic report of the Smyth Auction in Ontario, it was another memorable Massey event and one of the very rare opportunities to see such a variety of Massey related items from most era's of M-H and M-F manufacturing with items from other related Companies too, the best Massey auction since the famous Dome Valley Museum auction in 2007.

George and Barb were tremendous hosts, both before and during the auction, we all enjoyed the Massey food.

Here is a photograph of just one of the many people who enjoyed their time in Dungannon, Ontario, before heading out to the Expo at Paisley.

Malcolm.

RE:The Smyth sale

Thanks for posting the pictures from the Smyth auction. Lots of nice Massey items that you don't see every day. Hopefully someone will post pictures from Paisley for those of us who couldn't go
