Iowa Chapter board member Wayne Saak's wife Juli passed away yesterday morning (Wednesday July,6th) in a traffic accident on her way to work. 

Please keep Wayne, his family and his friends in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this very difficult time.

Obituary for JuliAnn "Juli" Saak

JuliAnn "Juli" Saak, 56, of Baxter, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in a tragic accident. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m at Bethany United Church of Christ, in Baxter. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany United Church of Christ with Reverend Teressa Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery in rural Baxter, Iowa. 

Juli was born on March 1, 1961 to Maurice and Ruth (Heckman) Miller in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her family relocated to Baxter when she was 15 and she graduated from Baxter High School in 1979. Following high school she went to DMACC and DMU and became licensed as a registered nurse. She married Harold Rouse and they had a son Aaron. The couple later divorced. Juli married the love of her life Wayne Saak at Bethany United Church of Christ in Baxter on June 4, 1988. They had a daughter Jennifer. Together they raised their family on the farm outside of Baxter. Juli assisted Wayne in owning and operating Gardener Millwork in Newton, Iowa. She also worked for Broadlawns Medical Center, Capstone, and for the last 15 years worked as an RN with Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Juli was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ where she served on the consistory, Jasper County Agriculture Society, Jasper County Sheep Producers, Mid-Iowa Antique Power Club, and card club. She was very social and loved spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed flowers, church activities, cooking, baking, helping people, and her pets. 

Those left to cherish her loving memory are her husband Wayne Saak of Baxter, IA; children Aaron (Katie Linn) Rouse of Des Moines, IA, and Jennifer (Julian) State of West Des Moines, IA; mother Ruth Miller of Baxter, IA; mother-in-law Doris Saak of Baxter, IA; sister Cyndi Miller of Des Moines, IA; aunt Doris Gerry of Oregon, WI; special friends Mike and Rhonda Guy, and Reed and Teresa Hiemstra; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. 

Juli was preceded in death by her father Maurice Miller and father-in-law Virgil Saak.
