Sure wish I had known this before scheduling a Board Meeting for the 13th...   I suppose that is protecting me from myself...   C'est la vie...

RE:MF 4840

Great to have the website up and running again.

John we had several 4840's around here in Lincolnshire on the larger arable farms, one local farm had two one with the Caterpillar engine and the other a Cummins, you certainly could tell the difference between the two.
So if this tractor has a Cummins in it you NEED it in your collection!!! maybe you could persuade the Company to sponsor the purchase and help the preservation of agricultural history??? Then you will need an extension on your shed, it just never ends.

Good Luck,
Malcolm.

RE:MF 4840

Malcolm,
The 4840 is listed with having a 903 Cummins in it.
John
If you call in a bid and get the 4840 and can't come and get it right away, I can keep it at my place until you do.

John B,

There would now seem to be no excuses for you not having a run at this superb and big Massey with Cummins into the bargain.

Good luck!

RE:MF 4840

Steve, have you actually been over to the sale site and looked closely at the 4840?  I talked to the auctioneer this evening.  He only descrived it as a "solid tractor", and he gave me the number of the owner and suggested I talk directly to him.  I have not been able to make that connection.  They also posted a different photo now on the auction website.  Looks like the inside front tires are pretty much worn out.  Wish I could see the inside of the cab, and a shot from the rear of the condition of the 3-point hitch.

Thanks for the offer to keep it at your place on the very outside chance I would actually buy it...  The next challenge would be figuring out how to get it home...

There are so many way more practical (and easier to haul) Massey tractors out there that I could be spending my money on......

RE:MF 4840

John, I'll try and stop past and look at the 4840 this morning. I have not seen it up close. I know the seller and  his equipment is well maintained. I know that the tractor was used for soil prep last fall. Hope I can get answers for you.
