XMAS DAY Start Up!

So it's Xmas day folks.  Trust you are not wasting ALL the day eating!!!  We always ceremoniuosly start up one of the U frames on Xmas day after the Queen's speech on the TV.

This year I decided on my latest Challenger with Moira in attendance who is now back doing the washing up!

Happy Xmas all

John

RE:XMAS DAY Start Up!

Hi John,

Well we made it thru Christmas without eating too much food!  But we did do a few things differently than you.  First we did not have to listen to the Queen or the President speak!!  (That was a blessing)  Second, although I gave a tractor tour I did not start any of them,  I thought I would wait until tomorrow to start my MF65 with loader.  Since they are reporting we are to get 10" to 12" of blizzardy snow with 40 mph winds I figured there was no hurry in getting ready to move snow.  It is suppose to be one of the larger blizzards we have had in some time.  With the wind it is hard to tell where all that snow will end up but I can promise that any door that has to be opened will have the biggest snow drifts in front of them.

Please tell Moira that she has that very special touch in decorating tractors!!  The lights look great!!  Isn't it nice to have such supporting wives to helping with our obsessions!!

Hope you both had a Merry Christmas and please stay warm.

Ho Ho Ho

GTE

PS I too hope you have some sun this year and we will take some of that rain!!

RE:XMAS DAY Start Up!

Gary,

The thing here is we don't HAVE to listen to the Queen, but it's a bit of a Xmas Day tradition with our family and many others.  The advantage of a non-political monarch over a political President is that  her speech doesn't contain oodles of promissary political verbiage.  She's done an outstanding job of holding the nation together now for over 60 years.  I would hate to have our Prime Minister warbling over us on Xmas Day - he is another verbiage merchant like Obama and suffers the same from wanting to be liked

Well - I don't know whether to say "hope the snow came" so that you had something to gainfully push around when you woke up this morning.  Maybe keep some in the cold store for Joe for his ebruary epic.  Whatever - send us a shot of the 65 in action please

John

RE:XMAS DAY Start Up!

I thought we would be seeing a few more "Christmas Day Crank Up's" on here, was everyone too full of turkey and trimmings to turn the hand crank!!!

Whilst John was listening to the Queen I was engrossed in another project which I will post later, but my start up for the "special day" is attached below, it ran for an hour and a drive round the yard made my day, it was the second longest run it has had in many years, a bit of fine tuning and we are almost there.

RE:XMAS DAY Start Up!

While I didn't start a tractor today I did start another Massey Project!

Baby Dane was born at 2am this morning.  I am sure there are many Massey things in his future!

RE:XMAS DAY Start Up!

Malcolm,

That project has now really moved along and clearly running well on the N. Wales Massey Engineering Co. head and exhaust elbow refurbishment!

A very original tractor - will you now let the new fuel tanks just rust and blend in?  A year or so in our climate and they won't stand out any longer.

Keep up the good work and we look forward to reports of your next project which I know of !!!!!!! and I know will stun the Massey world............

RE:XMAS DAY Start Up!

Drew and family,

Congratulations to you and your family on the birth of your son this Christmas time, I trust both dad and grampa will encourage him to develop his Massey interests as he grows up and not be long before he is driving and cranking these old yed and yellow tractors, maybe grampa will have to buy him a "hand crank" U frame Massey to play with, before he gets used to just pushing the starter button.

John,

Yes the styled 25 is coming along well and running better each time it is started, I have a new hood and fenders to put on it next, together with heating and straightening out the back framework for the fenders, then I think all the new tinwork, fuek tanks and front grill may well get some red paint during the summer months and then experiment with some ageing of the paint to match the rest of the tractor.

Graham,

I am surprised you and your daughter did not manage to start one on Christmas day, she would of loved a drive round the yard pulling her sleigh with a Massey or Wallis and all your presents on the back!!!
I have been so busy lately on various projects and no time to be sat at the computer, so now trying to catch up a bit with some of my posts.
Hope you all had a nice Christmas in MB.

All the Best

Malcolm.
