101 jr brakes

i found some time today to get to the brakes on the 101 jr i'm working on.  I ordered a set of brake linings from Steiner tractor that don't fit at all.  The holes are all mislined and the linings themselves must be made of graham crackers.  They fall apart and crack with a 5mph gust of wind.

What have you all used on your brake rebuilds?  I'm in chicago so it's hard for me to find resources around here for this kind of stuff.

Thanks in advance.

RE:101 jr brakes

Hey Chris. The brakes on my 555 were in really bad shape (the one shoe had no lining left on it at all) Drums were scored really bad. Tried to get OEM parts through AGCO. Had no luck with that but found a brake repair shop in a city nearby (AGCO partsman recommended) that was able to install new linings on all the shoes and true up the drums. Havent had a chance yet to install them yet but they look good. Don't know if this applies to your 101 problem or not.

Chris

I tried to email you but it bounced back for some reason. Forgot to mention in my post that I am no where close to Chicago. Hopefully you can find someone in Chicago that can do this for you. When I had mine done the impression that I got in my dealings with this shop was that this repair wasn't really that unusual. Here is the contact info anyway

Chris,

I buy non metallic brake lining in feet from McMaster-Carr and do my own. It's a lot cheaper and very easy to do.
