RE:hi altitude tractors

Malcolm,

You were just as surprised as I was to see they made a High Altitude 25, did you know they also made a High Altitude 20-30 Wallis?? Here is a scan from page 3 in Parts Supplement No. 25C showing Part number 4576H as being Special piston for High Altitude.  Have you ever come across a Wallis marked HA like Graham's 25?

RE:hi altitude tractors

Here is another one I did not know existed this is a scan of parts list number 36C for Massey Harris "101" Tractors  page 8 showing a High Altitude part Number 671178 as being a Cylinder head ( Aluminum ). I know in all my years of going to shows I have never come across a 101 with an Aluminum head on it, has anyone else?

RE:hi altitude tractors

Joe,

No I have never come across a HA Wallis that I know of, until seeing Graham's 25 with HA stamped in the engine casting I would not thought of looking there, I would of expected it to be stamped after the serial number on the oval plate, so this proves we need to spread our vision wider, we have been missing vital clues over the years.

Keep digging in the parts books, the aluminum head is something else I have never heard of on a M-H tractor, I wonder if they warped when run hot, some cars over here had the same problem years ago. especially the air cooled Hillman Imp, they just could not keep aluminum heads sealed on them.

Malcolm.

RE:hi altitude tractors

I have been looking through the parts books for high altitude pistons and found pistons listed for 12-20 in the supplement and the HA piston is listed in the 30A Pacemaker and 31A Challenger parts books.
There is no HA pistons listed in #29 parts book for the Green 25 but they are listed in #29C supplement.
There is also no HA pistons listed in #33 parts book for the styled 25 or #34 parts book for the styled Pacemaker. I don't have supplements for #33 or #34 books so maybe they are listed there.
