RE:Wallis Tractors

John:

I have not come across a hitch like that one before so don't know what to tell you. Here is a thought though, could the tractor have been used more for belt work and this was just put on there for a step to get on the tractor easier? The reason I say this is it is not centered with the tractor and it looks like it is not worn too bad. Just a thought....

RE:Wallis Tractors

Thanks Joe,

What you say certainly makes sense.  It is, I find, a very convenient step!  It does look strangely original but no markings on it.

RE:Wallis Tractors

A very good farmer / blacksmith addition John, I am sure it made getting on and off the tractor much easier or maybe some offset implement? a good dual purpose addition.

I am wondering if Joe has one of these Wallis wrenches in his tool kit?, I recently was sent this advert following our Racine thread discussion so thought it was definately worthy of a post on here.

Obviously Fred Hansen of Racine saw an opportunity for all Wallis owners to buy one of his special wrenches especially for the connecting rod nuts and wheel  traction lug nuts. Guess it was to save loosing knuckle skin as both these jobs can cause some pain.

Malcolm.

RE:Wallis Tractors

Tom:

I really love that picture especially the look on the guys face standing there.... He looks as though he had never seen a tractor before....

I think the body style of the Cub and Cub jr may be comming back in faction.... Here is a picture of a tractor in the UK I found, this is the second one this man made. The first one he made 15 years ago and put well over 6,000 hours on it riding on three wheels. The tractor was built for less ground compaction.

I think Malcolm should do this to one of his new ones so he can get some practice and the feel of riding on three wheels again so when his new toys show up he will be ready for them....

RE:Wallis Tractors

I have found this picture of a model K Wallis with a high top fuel tank and a high top radiator, I have never seen a high top fuel tank on a Wallis before has anyone else seen one?

RE:Wallis Tractors

I have only seen one other Wallis with a high gas tank. That was on a Plow works 20-30. I don't think it is quite original but you never know.

Here is a nice old B&W photo of a Cub. This one looks like an early tractor with round spokes.

Maybe Joe can post a couple more Cub things for us to look at too.

RE:Wallis Tractors

I have many more pictures to post of the Cubs when I find them in my heap of stuff. While I was digging for more Wallis stuff I ran across this article. I know I may have posted it before sometime in the past but I thought I would post it again for those of you that have not seen it. I get the willies everytime I read this as it is a very grim reminder that you have to always be on top of your game when working with these old tractors and you can never be too safe.

RE:Wallis Tractors

It was a nice day today so I had to get a Wallis out and drive around. The OK started on the 4th crank and ran great. There is still a little too much snow and almost got stuck a couple times.
