Many thanks for your photograph and reply Graham,

That's the first one I have seen on your side of "the big ditch", have you come across any more pulling those multiple binders in Western Canada?
I notice you have some of that "white stuff" creeping into your sheds, guess it's blowing around a bit now.
We have had some high 90 to 100 mph gusts today, blown a few trees down and caused a bit of caos with power and telephone cables.

Malcolm, Was messing around in my shed today and noticed this hitch on one of my 20-30 Wallis Tractors. Do you think this has anything to do with a binder hitch? It looks like it was made for it not just cobbled. Joe

Nice hitch addition and PTO with shield too Joe on your tractor, I don't think it's for the binder hitch Joe, it is very close to the back bar. The 12-20 or PA binder hitch seems to be more of an extension beyond the original drawbar and back bar, maybe for turning tight corners?

It would be interesting to know who made and fitted your bar and for what purpose, as it looks very professional, all these are interesting in the history of the tractor or implement and often lost with the passing of time and owner / operators.

Here are a few photographs of another exhibit I set up at the recent Wallis / M-H feature at Newark in November.

Wallis 12-20 Orchard serial number 200171 with a Wiard three bottom Orchard plow.

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

Browsing round my sheds on New Years morning reminded me of our recent discussion on here about the hitches supplied new with the M-H grain binders, here is the one which was supplied new with our M-H binder and spent a lot of time bolted onto my dad's M-H 12-20, it has been on the shelf for as long as I can remember.
It just shows how valuable this website is, I have looked at this piece for almost 50 years and remember hearing from my dad what it was one day when I was going to toss it into the scrap bin in the 70's, he soon told me to keep it, for another 30 years I have admired it and now only just got to talking about it through the power of the internet and global communication.

Keep the website rolling MCA Directors

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

Well I suppose the title of this thread should now read 2014 as we are now well into another year of shows.

Last week AGCO held their large corporate indoor show named "Discover 2014" at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, Uk of their latest agricultural tractors, machinery and equipment from the various brands of M-F, Challenger, Valtra, etc.

It was a very well presented show with live seminars and talks on their products, use and service, dealer network, together with agricultural agronomy and environmental discussions, It was a very well attended show with customers from all over England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland together with several from various parts of Europe.

It was the M-F section which was of most interest to me and I must say very impressive to see the latest 87 series wheeled tractors now up to 400HP, the latest line of combine harvesters was impressive demonstrating the latest hillside levelling and track technology.

Here are a selection of photographs from the day.

Nice looking tractors Malcolm. A bit different to the 178's and 188's that I used to drive. Good to see that Massey have got a combine on tracks. I think the 21's were available on tracks weren't they? Like they say there is n othing new in farming. Alan0

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

There was a very interesting and informative seminar and presentation on the history of Massey by Campbell Scott a Scotsman who spent his early years at the Stoneleigh factory and now part of the team at the Beavais factory.

He attracted a huge crowd around the floor as he presented the show in ten year incriments, it was encouraging to see so many present day users of M-F equipment so interested in the history of the Company, let's hope AGCO take note of this which may help to change their approach towards a little more passion for their history, rather than just numbers of new sales, it's all about getting the balance right.

Here are a few photo's of his show.
