Hit & miss Engine

What is the largest horse power hit & miss engine that Massey Harris made?
I have a friend who is executor for his Grand father's estate. There is a huge hit & miss that's suppose to be a Massey. Shed is full and of coures it's in the middle of the shed and can't get to it until a lot of things are moved.

RE:Hit & miss Engine

Steve,

Early Massey Harris Type 1 open crank hit and miss engines were made in 8 sizes,

1.5, 3, 4.5, 6, 8, 12, 15 and 20 HP

Type 2 engines of both open crank and later enclosed crank throttle governed engines were made in 4 sizes.

1.5, 3, 4.5 and 6HP

Hope you can post us a photo.

Malcolm.

RE:Hit & miss Engine

Malcolm, Thanks for the reply. This is an estate and all heirs are grandkids, 23 of them. All have different ideas as what to do with the estate. Could be a real knock down drag out.
I'm just trying to help a friend identify what's all in the shed. There are somethings I have no idea what they are. there is a lot of things from his great and great-great grandparents. I'll take a camera with me the next time i'm there.
I've seen 5 & 6 horse power engines, and this one dwarfs those. Problem is lighting is not great and engine is about 40 feet in.
