#2 's at auction this summer

while surfing auction sites, found 2 auctions with MH #2 tractors at them and one auction has some Sawyer Masseys too.... Heard no talk of the auctions this past weekend. Secret or have I let the cat out of the bag?

RE:#2 's at auction this summer

Well only this weekend at our UK M-H gathering both John and I was discussing the volume of No 2's coming up for auction this year on your side of the pond.
There are three chances for all Massey collectors to add one to your collections, the first is in Kentucky on August 3rd followed by the two in Canandaigua at Jim Erdle's auction on 19th & 20th September where there are many more interesting Massey related tractors on offer.

It will be interesting to see what they bring and the collections they go join.

It's no secret they have been talking about the Jim Erdle auction for about a year now. The biggest reason there wasn't much talk about it is they go for about as much as much as most peoples whole collection is worth just for one....

Darn, I thought I was the only one who knew about the Kentucky #2!!  (and about a thousand others)!!

I have been working on President Bush to put together a syndicate so we could keep one of them in the Midwest!!

I figure 8 people at $10,000 each might get it done!!  Then you would only have to store it and haul it one year out of eight!!

Anybody in on the office pool!?!?!?!?

I personally don't see them bringing as much as some of the previous sold #2's. there have been a couple sell for big money but john bought both of his recently for a very decent price on both of them. They are not quite as rare as a person thinks. They are usually never around at shows but I have a list of 33-35 existing yet in various conditions. Having two incomplete ones myself I hope these go lower than expected so one of us can get one bought and bring it out to some shows. Would be even better if they came back to Minnesota!

Here is a photograph of the Kentucky tractor taken from the "beckort auctions" listing.

"They are usually never around at shows" is a very appropriate saying today Tom in this era of seeing large numbers of semi modern classic tractors out at shows, there are a lot of early tractors sitting in the back of sheds which rarely see the light of day. Many of the younger generation of collectors just like the electric start, run on diesel fuel and hydraulic lifted implements.
The hand cranking collectors are getting to be a minority group, but the visiting public still enjoy early examples.
