MCA Members visit the Queen's country residence.

Juy 2011 saw a bunch of people from across the pond turn up at The Queen's Sandringham Estate in rural Norfolk, England, they were reported to be waiting on the front door step hoping Her Majesty would open the door and take them in for breakfast, they had been on the road for a few days and I think "sleeping rough" in Lincolnshire had worn them out.

I am sure many of you will recognise these "lost travellers"

Malcolm.

When they finally found food on the table there was no Massey talk at all,  strawberries and cream in traditional British style kept them happy.

RE:MCA Members visit the Queen's country residence.

The Queen may not have been in but we were treated like Royalty the whole time we were there!!

Yes, Gary and I agree you haven't had berries and cream til you have had Jersey cream!!

Ony was so full that when she got done eating she had to take the little crawler out for a drive to try to shake a few pounds off.

The real reason we were on the other side of the pond was someone had a 50th birthday party can you guess who?

Definitely had a blast with all our old friends and meeting new ones.  Food was good. Desserts were to die for but the Jersey Cream was over the top.  Never had the real Jersey Cream.  I now understand why they laughed at us when we served them our strawberries and cream in Pinckneyville a couple years ago.  Definitely a difference!!

We even got the container home through customs.  I am sure they would have questioned why we would have an empty Jersey cream container in our luggage!!

Best summer yet!!

Thank you all for spending time with us!!

RE:MCA Members visit the Queen's country residence.

Well I suppose I had better own up to the fact of my 50th birthday in 2011, it was certainly celebrated in true Massey style which started early in July with this bunch of travellers and their whistle stop tour through England and Wales, my celebrations continued through August to the National Show in Canandaigua and ended on my birthday in Nashville TN,

As you see Ony really looks the part driving John's very rare M-F 134 crawler on the Welsh hills of Bethesda, did I get my "cap" back Ony???? or have you been wearing it in Indiana?

We certainly enjoyed having you all here and seeing you eat good traditional Great British food, which you enjoyed very much and I will leave you giys to fill in on your favourites.

Malcolm:

I've been trying to post a picture of the birthday boy and the future construciton worker for a couple days now and finally got it to work. Every time I tried to post it kept giving me the error 505 but I figured it out now the pictures I was trying to post were too big i had to shrink them down to about 640 first before trying to upload them.

We sure enjoyed all the good food you people provided us wile we were there!! Some of the desserts were to die for they say everything is bigger in Texas but I found a very large dessert at the hotel (pic attached).

Speeking of good desserts I heard a rumor there will be bake sale at the spring meeting in Iowa this year. We had talked about it long enough so now it is time to get into action so if your reading this don't be afraid to start practicing on your favorite receipies so they will be perfected in time for the spring meeting.

Here is one of my favorite pictures of the trip.  We traveled to the Remstone Show as soon as we arrived in England.  Lots of beautiful steam engines, cars, trucks and tractors.  But this little guy was helping dad and granddad on one of the steam engines.  As soon as I took the picture, mom handed him a peanutbutter sandwich!!  Got to love it!!

It just brought back memories of showing horses or working in the field at harvest time and mom would bring us a meal.  We never thought twice about washing our hands!!

This kid will live a long productive live!!!

Thanks for the memories!!

RE:MCA Members visit the Queen's country residence.

Malcolm, We hear a lot about the strawberries & cream, however, what Joe is eating are what we call red raspberries on this side of the pond. When I was a kid my grandmother served all fresh fruit in real cream. Of course she was purebred English. Would love to visit your country.   Jerry

RE:MCA Members visit the Queen's country residence.

Jerry, we could not stop Joe eating he just loved all the fruit we put in front of him, and yes that bowl is raspberries grown in Sir John Whites own walled garden, we even got Joe in the garden searching for MORE berries, strawberry or raspeberry he just ate them all, but I will not let on what Ony's favourite dish was, I will let her tell you all at the Spring Meeting as I hear it may just be on the menu!!!!!!!!
