Massey Harris 333-444-555

This weekend I had to dig our 444 standard out of the shed to get washed up and ready for an engine rebuild this winter. A friend ouf mine is going to go over this 444 for us since it has an engine knock from what I hear. This tractor has sat in th shed as long as I can remember probably 15 years or more. My grandpa bought this one off a cattle farm in Mayville ND for $700 many years ago. It seems to be a nice original but was just covered in dried hydralic fluid and dirt from years of service with a loader. I spent a couple hours steam cleaning it yesterday and it is looking pretty good.

Also if anybody out there has a nice original paint grille or battery box I would be very interested in buying or trading to get those pieces for this tractor.

I have a soft spot for the triple series tractor so I would like to see and hear about everybody else's triple tractors.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for starting what should be an interesting thread!!

Here are my 333 and 444. The 333 found itself on the floor of Lucas Oil Stadium right after it was built.  It was part of the stage decorations for the Nattional FFA Convention.  The 444 is totally original including the tires.  Both front have recently blown so they will be getting replaced.  The muffler has also been replaced but otherwise it is how it arrived in Medicine Hat, Alberta Canada in 1956!!

RE:Massey Harris 333-444-555

I looked around in my photo files to find some "reasonable" shots of my triples.   The 333 GR next to the corn in 2011;  the 444 GR taken at the IMCA show in Bedford, IN in 2003;  the 555 DS taken at Massey Days in Danville, IN in 2011; and the still original 444 DS taken at the end of a row during start/run/move week in 2012 (it runs much better than it looks!).  Also, maybe, a distant, small shot of the 444 GR baling straw after we harvested the wheat from the Great Planting by Massey-Harris in Chillicothe, IL.

I like the triples but I only have one. One picture is at the Newark Vintage Show last weekend and the other pictures are of me playing with a M-H #26 plow.

RE:Massey Harris 333-444-555

There is some nice tractors in all of your collections! I wish some of our triples looked as good as others but they will be there at some point. Here is a picture of our 333 standard. It is a nice tractor that seems to be a little tougher to find as a standard.
here is a list of the ones we have since we are talking about triples
333 GR WF #20128
333 GR NF  #20364
333 GS        #20711
333 LP WF  #22101
444GS         #70883
444 DR WF #71387P
555 GS        #21310

The 333 LP we have even though it is mostly parts was bought new in my familys home town by the father of one of my grandpas employees along with another 333 and 444 diesel. We now have the four row cultivator they used on one of the 333's.
The 444 diesel we have was bought used by my grandma's brother and farmed with it and a 55 diesel just north of my Grandpas farm.

RE:Massey Harris 333-444-555

This 333 #20110 was on an auction sale last year or 2 years ago. We went to bid on a colt and this was second on the list. They trator was very nice but for some reason it showed no oil pressure. I was guessing there was something wrong with the gauge or line but it made me think twice. At the end both went to other homes. The Colt for $7000 and this 333 for $4500 I think.

This early 333 had the older 44 or 44 special style drawbar and frame which I thought was odd? Maybe an early feature or has it been changed out?

RE:Massey Harris 333-444-555

Has anyone ever seen a 555 with the flared type fenders on it? I know they were an option on the 55 but most had the large wheatland style on them. I looked in my parts book for the 555 and it doesn't show them but you never know.

RE:Massey Harris 333-444-555

This is my all original 1956 444.  It was at the Great Planting.

RE:Massey Harris 333-444-555

Steve It is interesting on your 333 that the transfer of the 333 is at the front. On mine it is on the fuel tank. Was that something that M-H did to differentiate between Live PTO and Standard, or different years, or just where someone wanted to put the transfer? Alan
