Oil for cream seperator

Can any one tell me what type and weight oil you use in a MH # 8 cream seperator?

Thanks
Steve

RE:Oil for cream seperator

Steve,

I notice no one is replying to you so thought I had better respond before I get on the plane across the pond later tomorrow.

The separator's I have restored all have thin hydraulic oil in them, I have some original separator oil in a M-H can and it is very thin and comparative to our current hydraulic oil, not that my separator's will ever get up to full speed, but thin oil does make them turn easier.

Hope the M-H separators will soon be busy in Wisconsin in preparation for the strawberries and "thick Jersey cream" at the banquet. Looking forward to some quality strawberries as ours are almost done for this season with it being so wet.

Malcolm.

Sorry I took so long to reply. First, I had problems posting a reply. Don't know if it was my internt provider,or the MCA web page. Then I got busy nad had a senoir moment and forgot about it.

I googled this and the replies I found ranged from 3 in 1 oil(sewing machine) all the way to gear lube. Your suggestion of hydraulic fluid makes the most sense.

Hoipe you enjoy yourself at Baraboo. Unfortunately, between my work schedule and money being very tight, We won't be able to go.

Thanks for your reply and help.
