MH 444 steering

At the spring meeting I was talking to some fellows about the loose (wobbly) front end on my 444. I was told to remove shims to correct the problem. Can't seem to find those shims listed in my parts manual. Anybody able to point me in the right direction?

RE:MH 444 steering

there are 3 places to check for a wobble,  1  if you take the inspection cover out you can see the shaft and coupler,  have someone steer back and forth and check for slop there,    2 in that hole there  is set screw straigh up,  adjust that  do a little at a time because it will get tight when you turn left or right(make sure to turn all the way when adjusting)  the teeth maybe too worn and you can only get a little bit out of it and no one makes the teeth yet  3  the shims are on the left side,  you need to take the radiator out to get to it,  there is a cover with 4 bolts the shims are behind that  don't take out too many and crack the cover because that really sucks.   ours needed all three.  we needed a new coupler and teeth.  good luck. if you need any help let me know
