Cool looking picture! do you still have the tractor? are these your brothers? if so you should get together with them and pose for the camera once again so we could see an updated version.

These are my cousins and one is gone. I have tried to find this tractor, but had no luck, but I do have the twin to it.

Any Idea what the serial # was? Maybe it is in one of the Massey Collectors collections somewhere?? Do you know where it was last and how long ago?

I have the original bill of sale from 11-30-45, but the serial # is not listed. It was traded to AC Benton, a John Deere dealer at Hampton, Ia in the 1965-66 time frame on a real nice 444. Benton had an auction every year and it was sold on his auction. My dad had added a piece of iron to the brake pedal with a spring on it to set the brake. It also had the headlights mounted on a pipe thru the back of the hood and a homemade lever to make the PTO easier to engauge. I repainted it in the early 60's.

I thought I fund your tractor!! This tractor came from the Rochester, MN area and it is a 101jr with screen grill. I noticed in the picture you posted it looks like it says 44 six on the hood of your tractor, whats up with that?

Here are the pictures of the one in my back yard.

Joe,

You have good eyes! My dad had it painted late 40's or early 50's and the dealer put the 44-6 decals on because he did not have any 101's. Our lights were mounted in a similar fashion, but the pto lever is not the same. Also, we had a Velvet Ride seat that my dad put on as soon as he could get one. I'm glad you and I are using this new website as it is intended! Where is everyone else?

After blowing up the picture you posted of the tractor with the 44six on the hood and taking a closer look, I don't believe this is the tractor you boys had your picture taken on years ago.

If you look closely it appears you can see the long stem pole on the seat that goes to just above the transmition cover wich is used on the later tractors.

The picture you posted of the young boys clearly shows the old style spring used on the 101s just like the picture I posted. Could it possibly be the tractor your looking for is here? Did your dad have more than one Massey or was the picture taken on a neighbors tractor? Just a thought?

I'm not sure what you are talking about on the long stempole. I lived thru the whole episode. It is the same and only 101Sr he ever had and no neighbors had one. We did have a neighbor get a 44-6 around 1947 as he was impressed with this tractor. I know for a fact that my dad put the Velvet ride seat on it and it was repainted sometime in the late 40's or early 50's and came home with 44-6 decals and they were on it until I repainted it in the early 60's. We had a 4 row cultivator and a 4 row mounted planter. You can see the planter mounting iron behind the front wheels. The pto lever he made was made from a lever from an old cultivator or something likem that. I still have his manuals and will check them for a serial #.
