RE:M-H Tractors/Racine

Hello Graham,

Now you have something else to keep looking for in Western Canada, this together with a stove for John will keep you away from your house rebuild for a while.

Anyway this conversion on the M-H 20-30 was four pieces,

1. Cast Iron exhaust elbow
2. Alliminium tube with flanges for manifold to carb
3. Robin carburetor (think they are same as a Zenith?)
4. Alliminum flange carb to aircleaner

I still have all these parts on my shelf somewhere, just can't remember if the carb actually had Robin cast into it or not, but seem to remember the alliminium tube did.

Maybe when you are next over here you could take these parts back in your suitcase?? I am sure you have a tractor which could use them in your bone yard.

Malcolm.

RE:M-H Tractors/Racine

Thanks Malcolm, very interesting to see these parts, I have not seen anything like this before. It is always handy to have few spare manifold parts around, can make the difference between able to run a tractor or not.

RE:M-H Tractors/Racine

I was asked to post a link to an article that relates to the future renovation or Demolisition of the J.I.Case Building. I couldn't get it to copy and paste so I copied the article. You can try to go to the www.journaltimes.com  then click on the advance search icon then type in J.I.Case Building  to see it on their site, you may have to search around a bit to find it but it should be there. It is better if you go to their site and scroll down to see the comments from the local people, If it is up to them we will loose this part of the J.I.Case Building history real soon as they are not a bit happy with the Idea of fixing it up at all.....

RE:M-H Tractors/Racine

Malcolm:

When searching this thread to post the Racine building I noticed your post of your Robin manifold upright piece you posted back in February. I must have been buisy with the Whiz-N-Day stuff as I didn't see it til now.

I too have the Robin upright piece like yours but yours is missing a piece. Back in 1998 when I got a 20-30 from Gary Biewer there was one of these laying in the front frame of the tractor, I was going to toss it as I didn't think it had anything to do with a Wallis. Later I was working on a 20-30 I got from Bob Glass and it needed a dirverter valve so i put this on in it's place until I could get one from Ervin. If you think a 20-30 is loud with the regular exaust that is nothing compared to putting one of these on the tractor!!! I swear it Amplifies the exaust and makes the tractor twice as loud!! I disc about 2 acres with this on and couldn't hardly take it anymore!! This would be great for tractor pulling to put on a show and make noise but you wouldn't want to run it all day long.

RE:M-H Tractors/Racine

Thanks Joe,

What a lovely stylish conical exhaust pipe that is, the designers on the drawing board at the "Robinson" foundry had a bit of talent.

It just amazes me how much iron was in those Robin castings, they are so heavy and must of put some strain on the original Wallis manifold.

Now Graham will have to keep a look out for one of these in Western Canada, the noise won't be an issue out in the Prairies,  it might upset our neighbours if I ran one here!

Malcolm.

RE:M-H Tractors/Racine

Another Racine built tractor appeared in Cheffins auction last Saturday, styled red Pacemaker Twin Power gasoline, serial number 110614 and requiring some major restoration and parts, it looks like it has been part of an older restoration, but suffering the usual manifold problems often found on these gasoline tractors. also been in some frosty weather looking at the reapirs to the engine block. With a lot of TLC it will be a good candidate for a restoration project on nice F&H round spoke wheels.
