RE:Massey mens' food!

If you spill your gravy on the table cloth after you have repaired the burn mark, then it will be time to get the cloth into the Massey washing machine and hang it out to dry with your M-H clothes pegs, beofre returning to more good Massey Mens Food.

I can show you my red and yellow clothes pegs, but still looking for the washing machine!!

RE:Massey mens' food!

I'm just back in the house after going round the farm setting mole traps so I am glad to warm up and think about Massey Food again.  Here is an interesting ash tray still in its presentation box.  It was issued in 1961 in France to mark the release of the MF 25 tractor and is labelled "March of Triumph Paris 1961.  I suppose that they must have had some parade or other to mark the occasion.

RE:Massey mens' food!

Hi All,

With regard to the Reply button; this is the same situation we had on the memorabilia thread.  Copied below is the response then and it basically is the same today.  Seems it is a server issue that we do not control.  This is the explanation as it was presented several months ago:

At the risk of getting too techical, here is the situation with regard to the
"REPLY" button.  If you notice, when the reply button disappears, it is always on long, many-responses threads.  This is how it was explained to us.  Although we have discovered the reason for the problem, the fix is not easy!!  Here is what we have been told:

Regarding the reply buttons, good news is we found the problem.  Bad news is there isn't a fix for it that I'm aware of.  The problem is the maximum length for a URL is 450 characters.  I know you're going to say well there is only 60 or 70 characters in the address bar.  That is true although the URL stored in the database is much different.
For example this is what you'd see in the database

/00001617/00001619/00001620/00001621/00001622/00001623/00001624/00001625/00001626/00001627/00001637/00001638/00001639/00001640/00001641/00001642/00001643/00001644/00001645/00001646/00001654/00001655/00001656/00001657/00001658/00001659/00001660/00001661/00001662/00001814/00001815/00001816/00001817/00001818/00001819/00001820/00001821/00001822/00001823/00001824/00001825/00001826/00001828/00001829/00001830/00001831/00001832/00001833/00001834/00001840

is actually rewritten to be a friendly URL and looks like
this: http://masseycollectors.com/Discussion?forumid=2&threadid=221

If you get into the technical part of it each set of numbers between the /  and /  is a post ID.  So every time a user replies to a post another ID gets added.  For instance if you had 5 replies in a message and 4 people replied to the original message and 1 replied to one of the other replies the code would look like this:

/00000001/ (initial post by Joe)
/00000001/00000002/ (reply to Joe by Gary)
/00000001/00000002/00000003/ (reply to Gary by Joe)
/00000001/00000002/00000003/00000004 (reply to Joe by Gary)
/00000003/00000005/ (reply to Joe from John)

As you can see it adds up fast.  The maximum number of replies to a single post is 49 (which if you ask me is a pretty lengthy conversation!).  Again, I'm looking into where the limitation resides (Kentico, Internet standard, server standard or otherwise) and will let you know once I find out if anything else can be done.

I apologize for the problems with this.  My suggestion would be to do as you are
already doing and find another reply and reply to it or just start a new thread.

Hope this helps a little!!

Gary

RE:Massey mens' food!

A one cup measuring scoop to measure what ever you want and a Massey Harris 101 hat. Not quite sure how to tie the hat in with the food theme but I thought it was an unusual item that I had not seen before.

RE:Massey mens' food!

Wayne,

Very nice hat and scoop!! I see the reply button is finally back but now the page is so large it is off the screen........

Is it that way for others or is it just me??

Joe

RE:Massey mens' food!

Thank you for posting your 101 hat Wayne, wonderful never seen one like that before, was it for a "Massey Chef"??.

The page on the screen is the usual size for me Joe, maybe you have a "bug" sheltering from the cold and snow in your computer!!!??

RE:Massey mens' food!

My screen is wide also. I thought my first post did not go so started to redo it and then noticed it was there. Why did the second post show up with the reply button?

Malcolm,
I am not sure exactly what it was for, other than possibly a welders cap. There is a 6-7/8 size on the bottom corner so there must have been different sizes available.

RE:Massey mens' food!

I might have blown the page apart woth my explanation post!!  Beats me but it does make for some long lines!!

RE:Massey mens' food!

Hope we can continue with the "Massey Mens Food" discussion without "cooking or over heating" the website!!!

I really enjoyed the very first Massey Show in 2001 in Newcastle Ontario the home of Massey, they produced a very fine poster and replicated the design onto listed number mugs, they did the same again for the next show in 2003, here you see number 45 from both shows.

It was a great shame there was not more support for the 2003 show, it had great potential to become a very specialised and popular event, but quickly lost it's momentum and we have not heard of any further plans for another.

Malcolm.
