RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Gary,

Could this bell be adopted as the MCA Expo bell?   Perhaps make a dedicated and designed MH post to hang it on?  What a sight - hundreds of Massey food enthusiasts parading past it to get their strawberries and JERSEY cream.  A wonderful prospect - I leave it in your capable hands ........................

That is a wonderful idea.  If it wasn't so heavy, awkward to move and already 9 feet in the air it might have some merit.  I will check with the better half to she if she wants to be the official bell ringer.  (Actually, she already is - she rings my bell regularly - and that is NOT a good thing!!!

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Here is a very nice piece of Massey related cast iron memorabilia.

Last weekend at the hay making demonstration at Newark Show a very early Blackstone of Stamford hay mower was brought out by a local implement collector and demonstrated with a pair of horses.

The footplate was one I have never seen before with two positions marked for positioning the pole in grass or corn (grain). I suppose it was to prevent the right horse walking in the standing crop of grain, which in those days would be much taller than todays short straw varities.

The same collector also brought out a very rare Ruston & Hornsby mower, built by the same Company in Lincoln and Grantham who built and sold the British Wallis tractor.

Malcolm.

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

This is the latest piece of cast iron memorabilia that I have aquired.  It's the centre disc from the steel drive wheel of a Lister Blackstone potato spinner/digger.  Massey-Harris in the UK for some years marketed all of Blackstone's products.  These potao digger/spinners were very popular but now rarely seen in complete and working condition.  I had this off a scrap one.  It is about 10 inches diameter.  They could be horse or tractor drawn.

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

I think Malcolm might have posted a pic of a small cast seat earlier.  Here is a different one replicating the Z82 seat.  I put a quarter in the pic to represent its size!

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

This is an interesting piece.  I have to think it is a wheel lug or cleat off an implement but I am not sure. Any help is appreciated!!   I just had to have it since I liked the part number "GE 59"

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

This is another interesting piece given to me by George Smythe.  It is a gear catch or a "dog" of some kind.  Any ideas!?!?!

This is a wheel hub (minus the wheel).  I think there have been other pics of these but this is a nice close-up!!

Not real sure what this gear is but if I were betting I would think it came off a reaper.  Thoughts???
