RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

I went to a little Country Show today where they were thrashing with steam. Unfortunatly no M-H stuff there but I did notice these canvases on a five foot Mc Cormick Binder.

Hi Alan,

That is a good looking Ferguson Pony you posted!!  As I understand it - it was the first gray Pony to hit the English soils!!  Although, there is another one in the UK now, I am pretty sure this was the first one.

I am sure I have seen it before!?!?!?  LOL!!

Hi Gary,

I think you may have seen that Pony before. Malcolm saw one at Newby Hall at the begining of June but I don't know which one was over here first.

The photos I sent was the first outing in public of that one I'm pretty sure. A very nice and unusual tractor over here..

Gary,

I'm fairly certain that Alan is correct.  As I understand it the first grey Pony into the UK was to the Brownings who live near Manchester airport - a collection which you are scheduled to visit when you next come over.

Earlier in the year I posted some pics of the world speed record main line railway engine.  Today we went on the narrow guage Bala Lake railway.  This was originally a mainline standard guage railway until closed in the 1960s.  Then in the 1970s, because it ran along the length of the longest natural lake in Wales, narrow gauge rail was relaid as a tourist attraction.

The engine pulling the train today was an ex slate quary engine (Maid Marian) from near where we live - from the Llanberis slate quarry where Gary E, Joe P and Steve M have visited with us.  It was a cool clear day and the views were nothing short of fantastic.

Also shown is a photo of the engine in its working days in the quarry which is now hanging in the railway station.

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

Alan,

That Pony was also featured in the French book called "Ponys Tracteur"  I decovered the picture in the book while visiting John F several years ago.  I was quite surprised to see it in a book that was in French.  Of course, that led to the challenge of finding the book!!

I now the Tractor was purchased in the fall of 2011 but I am not sure when it arrived in England.

I know the Brownings have one as well but not sure which on got there first!!

Nice to see an Indiana tractor in the UK!!

Thanks for sharing.

Gary I'm not sure which Gray Pony arrived over here first. I guess we would have to ask the Brownings when they got theirs unless John F knows. Quite easy to find out when the Indiana one arrived. Alan

Alan,

The Browning's grey Pony arrived in the UK in very early October 2013

Thanks John,

I will have to find out when the Indiana Grey Pony hit the Uk soil.

I was looking in the Massey Tractor Data Book at the serial numbers for Pony's. Masseys just seemed to take a chunk out of their numbering system and used them for the Grey Pony's rather than giving them a completely new system of their own and then there does seem to be some overlap of the numbers anyway.

Was there any differences in the M-H Pony's and the Ferguson Ponys other than the colour?

Alan,

To the best of my knowledge there was no difference otheer than colour and badging between the MH and Ferguson Ponys.  But maybe someone knows more??
