RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

From the photos that combine looks like an incredible piece of work!  Would liked to have seen it in person.

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

I have not had a chance to get on here for a couple days but I did want to comment about the great models Malcolm posted!!  Both the combine and the shop were extremely nice pieces with tremendous detail.  I was especially intrigued with the small signs inside the shop.

Thanks for taking the pics and for sharing these fine pieces of craftsmanship for us all to marvel over!!

NICE!!

For the Ferguson enthusiast here are a few photographs from the recent Ferguson Club's visit to a private collection in the flat fenlands of Lincolnshire, some very nice Ferguson implements attached to their respective tractors. The high clearance TED20 looked the part on narrow rowcrop wheels and sprayer on the back.

Well known M-H spanner man Alan Harris was enjoying the trip and weekend in Lincolnshire, unfortunatley I did not manage to see him in the camera lens, he was busy checking out all the fine Ferguson detail.

This is not tractors or a Show so I don't know whether it should be on this site or not.

Yesterday in East Anglia (that's the area where I live ) we had what is called a Mills Open Day when the Wind and Water Mills are open.

These pictures are of Bardwell and Stanton Wind Mills which are not far from where we live. The Steam Engine is Oliver and for my 60th birthday present Doreen bought me a days driving it. I had never driven a steam engine before but it was a most enjoyable day. a day I will never forget. I might add that was 10 or 11 years ago now

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

Some very nice windmills there Alan, getting into Norfolk just seems like "stepping back in time" to me, everything seems so laid back and quiet in your County.

Just the same at Stradsett rally last weekend near Kings Lynn, Norfolk, the highlight for me was seeing a tractor come out of the barn to attend the show, it was 1974 since I last saw this tractor sat on a trailer at the show near Kings Lyn, it does not seem 40 years to me since I saw one of possibly two remaining original import to the UK Big Bull tractors, sold in  England as the Whiting Bull, Mr Whiting being the agent who shipped them across and sold them here in England.

This tractor has been sitting in the barn for years and many people have tried to buy it, the new (4th) owner now is a local resident so the tractor stays in the County it went new to, he has replaced some of the rotten chassis iron frame and continues the mechanical restoration and soon hopes to have it running again. We look forward to seeing it out and parading under it's own power, last weekend it was towed round the parade ring with the West's family I-H 8-16 Junior.

This veteran tractor attracted a lot of interest at the show from both enthusiasts and visitors.

Malcolm

I'm regretting not going to Stradsett.. That was a nice tractor to have there. Nice to think it lives in Norfolk It would be nice to see it at Marsham!!!

I think I have only seen one and that was at Newark a few years ago.

Yes we missed you at Stradsett Alan,

This year they did a theme of sugar beet growing and harvesting from horse equipment tothe modern day harvesters, unfortunately M-H had little to offer so the display was mainly focused around British built F A Standen machines and other local manufacturers, here are some photogrpahs showing some machines pulled by M-F tractors and the M-F 135 skid unit on a Standen single row "Solobeet" you don't see many of these typical 1970's machines today.

You are making me feel even more disappointed that I didn't come to that show. On the farm where I worked we had a Solobeet but it had a Ford as a power unit. I think it was a 3000.
I went to a little show on the Sunday that was closer to us than Stradsett but it didn't have any of the Massey family there. it did have a White and a Peterbilt though.

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

Here are the last few Massey Harris photographs from the recent Stradsett rally,

A very nice narrow front 101 Junior kerosene tractor, in the gas engine line a 1.5  HP Type 2 engine and the last two photographs are just for Joe, wonder if he has a wooden GP in his extensive collection like this one? transport to a show is not an issue with this one.

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

We are just back from a short holiday up in Yorkshire and we went to the Pickering Country Fair and Tractor Show - tractors a bit of a dissapointment - all classics and almost nothing pre-war.  But there was this Ferguson there with an after market four wheel drive conversion that I thought was interesting.  Not sure who made it but at one time there was a company in mid Wales doing them.
