RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

Here are four more photos taken at Euston. The only M-H there was mine but there was a nice Ferguson-Brown as well and I have included a Railway Wagon that caught my eye.

I took these photos with my camera unlike the ones that I took of the Percherons that I took with my phone. I hope these will be better.

Nice Ferguson Brown Alan, it looks like you had much better weather than Newby Hall last weekend, it rained all day Saturday and the ground was already standing in water, Sunday it improved with some sun, but nothing allowed to move or parade.

Not many Massey Harris and related tractors there this year to report on, the one which caught everyones eye this year on the Ferguson Club stand was the Grey Ferguson Pony, recently brought over from the US and given a nice restoration by Peter and Julie Browning.
Many British collectors had never seen or even heard of them so Julie spent most of the day Sunday explaining the connection well backed up with a file of literature to prove her knowledge.

Nice Ferguson Pony Malcolm.  Not many of them about but I think we are lucky enough to have one in the area.

It was a lovely on Sunday at Euston weather wise. Such a shame when everyone puts so much into a show then the weather ruins it.

I was at a meeting last evening and some people who were there had been to Carrington and were speaking highly of it.

So you guys need to work on the othe rowner of a gray Pony and get it out and about!!  I knew it was to be one of the first in the country!! He needs to campaign it a little.  He might also need to do some paint touch-up on it as well!!  Probably not as pristine as Mrs. Brownings!!

We may see it at the Norfolk Show in two weeks time Gary. If not I am sure we will see it at Marsham.

I suppose this tractor seen out last weekend at Newby Hall can be shared here as these early Marshall of Gainsborough Lincolnshire England built Colonial tractors were sold in Western Canada by Sawyer Massey, this two cylinder model spent it's entire working life in Canada, there is also a four cylinder one in the Austin Manitboa Agricultural Museum.

Here is a copy of the 1912 advertising from Sawyer Massey in Western Canada showing both the Sawyer Massey Gas tractor and Marshall Colonial Gas tractor.
Sawyer Massey also sold the British built Marshall steam Road Roller during this time as they did not produce their own steam roller.

Whilst on the subject of the Sawyer Massey / Marshall connection here is a photograph of the larger four cylinder Marshall Colonial Gas tractor at the Austin Manitoba museum. Showed to me last summer in storage after a major refurbishment by volunteers, when I saw it a few years previously the cylinders had been badly frozen and were being removed for repair.
Photographed with the tractor is my long time frined in Manitoba Lorne Radcliffe who lives very near to Graham Catlin.

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

Getting back onto the topic of this thread again here are a few photogrpahs from a small show at Holbeach in South Lincolnshire last weekend.

Nice to see a M-H-F No 712 manure spreader out, shame it was being pulled by a Fordson Dexta, also unusual to see a M-F 135 narrow vineyard in this part of the country which is mainly a vegetable growing area, at the other end of the scale the M-F 1155 drew a lot of attention.

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

Interesting MF 1155.  Would appear to be a "Standard" version with a cab.  Fixed (non-adjustable) front axle, and doesn't appear to have a 3-pt hitch.  Would this have ever been "native" to your area, and actually used in farming, or is it collector import?

Thanks for sharing all the UK Show photos.
