Whew...I was exhausted after watching that! LOL

RE:Massey Workout

I have a Fordson N like that but after all the swinging (cranking) and bad language it still doesn't start.

RE:Massey Workout

Wow Joe!! You convinced me to sell all my push buttons!! That did it.  That video changed my whole outlook on cranks!!

I need to let my hair grow out again (it might be as curly as his after working out like that!).  I already have blisters on my hands just watching video.  I already sweat just pulling the choke out and trying to reach to push button so that is an even!  And my YMCA membership is doing me absolutely no good.

I am all in – Where do I start???  How about the CUB!!!!

Sure did look painful to me!!!!  Thanks for thinking of me, though!

RE:Massey Workout

Alan,

You NEED to sell your Fordson and buy another Massey, my dad always had a saying I shall never forget, "the brightest thing about any Fordson is the starting handle" and it sounds to me your tractor fits that bill well.

Gary,

No need for pain or blisters with these hand cranks, a little lubricating oil on the handle would of been a good start and easier for turning, I am pleased to say you witnessed a 25 start a lot easier last July when you was here on your tour. I look forward to watching the direction of your collection change to "U" frames, when the Cub arrives let us know and we will be there.

Malcolm.

RE:Massey Workout

At shows we see plenty of proud Fordson owners with "restored" tractors swinging like that.  You have to feel sorry for them.  But with so many of them they will not get the magnetos serviced saying they "have a spark" but not understanding about the quality of a spark

That guy down in Aus certainly was a fit enthusiast just needing a bit more methodolgy for the crank.  The 25 is one of the easier U frames to swing - the worst being the low down 12-20s.  I think the Challengers are perhaps the easiest - ergonomically speaking they suit me.

If that guy had oiled his crank as Malcolm suggested then life would have been easier for him.  Also to choke the tractor on your own is not difficult - just single pulls up with one hand and the other pulling the choke.   Generally 2-3 will suffice and they usually will not fire whilst you are pulling them up on choke.  Then take a good firm stance with one hand on the crank and the other grasping the rad cap - you will come to no harm this way even if it does kick - a rare occasion with a well set up MH.  Always set the mag up to the engine exactly as it describes it in the ops manual.  Sadly a lot of peole are put off owning magneto tractors for fear of getting kicked.

Lets put it down to his youthful enthusiasm and give him 10/10 for trying and succeeding.  Was it Richard Jackson we heard in the background?

Tractor sounded nice and surprisingly quiet without an exhaust pipe.  The Australien wheels are also of interest.  Aussie wheels fitted to save on foreign exchange just as we did in the UK (but our wheels are different.  We only fitted our own wheels to the PAs and 12-20s
