RE:Wallis Tractors

Gary,

If I haven't totally scarred you away from buying a Wallis there is a pair of nice looking 20-30s coming up on auction in East Waterford, PA on April 5th you could consider. One on steel serial Number 64420 and one on rubber serial number 65286 take your pick. These two tractors are a bit newer than John's flying crank handle tractor number 56121 so they have the crank bolted to the shaft and they won't go flying but they can still whap you in the back of the hand or knees and chin but at least it will stay with the tractor.

RE:Wallis Tractors

For a better look at the Wallis 20-30 tractor that has a mean kick to it I will post some pictures of it. For some of you who have been fowling the thread on Lugs&Cleats this is nothing new but for those of you that have not seen it here are some pictures.

John has been working on this tractor for about a month now, in that short time he got it all back together and running, quite an accomplishment for such a short time!! John is considering becoming an MCA member just so he can keep us informed with what he knows and can possibly learn a few things from others around the world.

Here are some pictures of Wallis No. 56121

RE:Wallis Tractors

I have not abandoned you Joe, just been having some computer problems.

I can say however, that Wallis has some kick to it!!  There would have to be some roof repairs if it hit our cheap tin roofs!!

The two PA tractors look nice.  If I were going that direction I would probably do the steel (if it had cleats) I am sure your could pick out some other issues with the tactors to discourage any random buying I might do!?!?!

Thanks for thinking of me!!

RE:Wallis Tractors

Here are the latest two pictures of John's tractors waiting to head to a show soon in Australia. He asked me to post them for him as he is not a member of the MCA yet but plans to be soon in the near future.

I would really love to have the Massey 82 in my collection I really think the wheels make it look smart.. If I remember right I believe the 55 in the rear is a 55K and is another tractor I wouldn't mind having in my shed..

The Wallis 20-30 is finally running pretty good now, You can see for yourself. Just click link below.

RE:Wallis Tractors

One thing I have found interesting on 20-30 number 59521 is the starting tank, apart from being full of bullet holes it has steel twist caps. I have one other 20-30 like this (number 58571) all the other 20-30s I have older newer and inbetween these two have the fine threaded brass caps. These tanks have the cast end mounting plates so I don't think they are from a 25. I know of one other 20-30 (number 59567) with a tank like this, I would be interested to know if anyone else has a Wallis or Massey 20-30 with a starting tank like this.

RE:Wallis Tractors

Thanks for the photo's Graham, hope the snow has melted a bit and you have got them unloaded and placed in the line with all your others

I am pleased both Joe and yourself are keeping many of these Wallis and M-H remains in North America, if it was not for you two I am sure they would be on their way to China now, so keep watching the farm auctions as I am sure there are many more still out there to be found up in the great white North.

Interesting point on the gas / water tank tops, I suppose at the time those screw on tops were much cheaper than the brass ones and helped cut the production costs.

Malcolm.

RE:Wallis Tractors

Went to the big Pioneer Power swap meet on Friday it was one of the biggest crowds I've seen there in a long time but if you were looking for Massey related items you could have put just about every thing Massey related there in one wheel barrow.

I finally got the Wallis 20-30 #64796 home from Illinois that was on ebay and awaiting for the China scrap heap.  If I had gotten this tractor a couple years earlier I think I could have been in the "Bee" business. I have seen a lot of things in the crankcase of a Wallis tractor before but never anything like this tractor. This crankcase was home to about 30,000 Bees at one time but luckily for me they have since moved on. She is not the prettiest thing to look at but I don't think I got "Stung" too bad on this one. The one thing that is cool about this tractor is it has the Wallis oil gage still on it, although it is not in the best shape it is very readably yet.

RE:Wallis Tractors

Joe,

What did you bring home in the wheelbarrow and is there any honey left in the sump?  Jersey cream and honey do go well together when one is spoiling oneself!

RE:Wallis Tractors

Malcolm,
Your comment on the starting/water tanks makes sence but these tanks are on mid production 20-30s, here is the tank with brass caps on Joe's 20-30 number 65005 which is over 5000 tractors later.
