RE:Massey-Harris Wrenches

Hi Joe,

That is excellent research you just performed.  Great work.  As you can see from my pics it is really hard to tell the numbe ron the piece.  After seeing the parts book it very definitely would be a "Y" and not an "X".  Looking at the pic again you can imagine the 4 as well.

Sure looked like a convoluted screw driver to us!!

Good job!!

RE:Massey-Harris Wrenches

Well done Joe, you must have too much snow in Minnesota to get out of the door?, so pleased you put your time to good Massey research, that's what this website is all about.

Now we will have to find something else for you to research, we don't want you sitting there with nothing to do???

Malcolm.

RE:Massey-Harris Wrenches

Hello Alan,

How are you progressing with your wrench project? hope you are still receiving information and photographs from other Massey Collectors to help your mamoth tast along it's way.

Here is a photograph of one I found this year at Baraboo amongst the junk stalls, it has no numbers at all just the usual     <M-H> and it measures 6.5 inches in length.

Malcolm.

RE:Massey-Harris Wrenches

Hello Malcolm,

Thanks for the photo of the wrench. I think it is a M-H #122A which was supplied with corn binders and potato diggers. There is an almost indenticle wrench but 10.5 inches long and stamped J I Case Plow Wks and the same wrench could also be stamped M-H.This wrench is #1222.

I haven't done much to the list just lately but I must get on with it. The next job is to get the numbers in some sort of order and to add photos of yours and John's wrenches that you kindly let me take last summer plus some other ones that I have.

Alan

RE:Massey-Harris Wrenches

Hello,
I wonder if someone knows the part numbers of these wrenches. I can then add them to the list I am making of M-H Wrenches. Lets call the first wrench A then B & C. If that makes any sense.
Thank you
Alan

RE:Massey-Harris Wrenches

Wrench E wood handle adjustable wrench is listed in Repair Parts catalog #1 as #W105. It came with the No21 drill and No21 mower. In Repair Catalog 1-H it is listed as #123C and came with #11 and #20 mower. Wrench C on previous post is listed in Repair Catalog 1-H as 123 and 123C coming with the No 3 and No 5 binders, No 5 manure spreader and steel hay rake. Wrench D is a Wallis tractor wrench #3854T. Hope this helps.

RE:Massey-Harris Wrenches

Hi Wayne,

Thanks for the info.I have part # written down but I don't what the wrench looks like. I can now add a picture to the part numbers.
On my list I have # 123 as a Wooden Handled Adjustable like W 105 and 123C as all metal adjustable 8.5" long. Would this agree with your parts catalog or not.
Thanks again
Alan

RE:Massey-Harris Wrenches

The wood handled adjustable is listed under W105, 123, and 123C with various different implements. It could be a misprint in the catalog.

RE:Massey-Harris Wrenches

Hi Wayne,

I'm sure your catalog is right. M-H seemed to give different part # to the same wrenches and conversely to give one part# to two different things. I have part # 123C down as an oil can as well as a wrench. I got the oil can part # out of a M-H catalog. It was supplied with a No20 Mower in 1916. M-H didn't make things easy with their part #.

Does anyone have any ideas on the flat steel wrenches A, B and F. Perhaps they never had part # but if someone knew what implements they were supplied with that would be very helpful. I think wrench B may have been supplied with a cream separator but I'm not sure.
Thanks
Alan
