Thanks for the photo's Graham, what a combination of the unusual cast rear wheels and the first LPG conversion I have ever seen on a "U" frame Massey tractor.

I do remember seeing a Ch converted to LP on the internet that was in Ca., possibly the same one??
Two 44K's I got from Oklahoma  had lp conversions . I put them back to original and have left over lp stuff . It wouldn't be to tough to make a lp Ch .But do you really need one??
Did you see the photo of the original Ch with 13.5 X 32 inch rear rims at Massey Days at Armstrongs?

Here is another picture of a LP Challenger. I think it is the same one, the exhaust and air cleaner stak are different but grille is same with bottom bar missing. Also same rear wheels and tires. Dennis, I like the 32 inch rims and I realy like those tires.

Althought this is not a Challenger it is pretty close. I bought this Pacemaker last week and picked it up on friday. It is a fairly new 1937 model with a serial number of 109194. We spant several hours this weekend working on getting it back into running order and fixing some issues. I had a fresh rebuilt U4 Bosch magneto to install on it along with a new mag drive system since the original was modified to work with that big Case mag somebody thought would be good on here. The oiling system cause us some trouble but we finally tracked it down to a sheared key on the oil pump drive shaft. I made a new key for it and then it held 25 pounds of oil.So now it runs pretty good with great power and no smoke! I need to buy a new manifold for it and fix the carburetor to solve some of the idling issues it has. Overall a pretty decent tractor.

All of my pictures from today came out pretty fuzzy because I must have had a little oil on it or something! So these are when it first came home on friday.

Looks like a good find.  Does it run pretty quiet with that big ole' muffler?  :-)

Hi John, It actually sounds pretty good with that muffler on it!  My Grandpa found a place in Fargo a few weeks ago that custom builds mufflers to any size you want so I might get a couple made like this original option muffler for the pacemakers. The muffler was a whopping $3.60 option according to the 38 dealer price book.

I have not decided yet if it will stay on rubber or I have a full set of steel for it with extensions.

This weekend we are working on my new pacemaker again. Yesterday I made gaskets for the new manifold and got it installed. Looks pretty good but will have to come off after rollag for some finishing touches. I bought new front tires for it so they will go on this afternoon. I spent all morning so far finishing the radiator. It has been a very big job getting the fins straightened out but I think it looks a lot better! So here is a before and after shot of that.

Here is a pic of my red Challenger fitted with new steel front wheels.  I got a pair of tip toe rears for it some years ago but wanted to make it steel all round.  I got a paid of hubs off DB and then had them spoked and rimmed by a firm in N America - wonderful job.  He also made the skid in one piece for each wheel so I had this cut in half then the rim drilled to take them by my local mechanic.  Now makes a nice steel wheeld tractor I think?
 
I am slso showing a pic of the vaporiser heat shields on my other petrol/tvo Challenger which were fitted as original equipmant.  I don't recall seeing any of these in N America - are there any?

Three of the tires on our Challenger did not hold air for any length of time, have now got them fixed. Had to have the rims sand blasted as they were quite rusty when we got the tires off.
