More Grandson Training!

My little tractor buddy, Grandson Carter, and his family arrived here at the farm from Durhan, NC just about dinner time today.  Even though it was pretty chilly out, Carter wanted to head out to the barn right after dinner.  We started out small, with the MF 16.  Today he mastered starting and stopping movement with the Hydro lever on the MF 16.  Papaw still stays a few quick paces away just in case.   :-)

Then we moved on to something a bit more substantial - The MF 1150.  This was his first ride 'n drive on this tractor since that wasn't feasible when it had the old Full Vision cab on it...  We took it for a nice ride out through the field before calling it an evening.

They are prediciting 90% chance of rain tomorrow, so probably good that we got these rides this evening!

RE:More Grandson Training!

That's the way to start them John, I am sure that first "ride and drive" will remain in his mind for many years to come, hopefully you have started the process of another future "Massey Collector" I would guess he was hoping for a sunny morning today to repeat the pleasure.

Expect he is "in training for Massey Days" this year?

Malcolm.

RE:More Grandson Training!

Unfortunately, no "sunny morning" here either yesterday or today...  We did manage to make a lap in one of the cab tractors between downpours this afternoon (alas, not a red one...).

The ride 'n drive on the 1150 last Tuesday was far from his first one here, just the first on the 1150.  When Carter saw the first of two quilts Marlene is making for the Massey Days auction, Carter stated he wanted one just like that for his birthday.  We're thinking it might not be "just like it", but rather use photos of him driving several of my tractors.  But they probably have to all be Masseys (plus one of him on my TO-20).   :-)

He is planning on being here for Massey Days Reunion.  He told me again today that he wants to "show all my friends" how he can drive my tractors.  Makes me smile.
