RE:Massey Harris Implements.

This is a combine a friend of mine has. One day I hope to be able to pick it up with a second one sitting next to it. Things are always best in pairs.

RE:Massey Harris Implements.

Tom, That's a nice looking combine, is the grain tank original? What is the other one like do you have picture?

RE:Massey Harris Implements.

Hope you save both combines from going to China Tom, with some time and patience you would certainly soon have one up and running, a combine behind each of your No2's would look well, you are young enough to achieve this and preserve some lovely old machines.
Ron Knight our "Combine King" here in UK has rebuilt many old combines much worse than the one you pictured and he uses them in the field too, it is remarkable what comes out of his workshop each year considering his age. His latest acquisition is a self propelled Marshall combine which is just a pile of rust at the moment.

Keep us posted of your progression with them, what motor is on there? is it Hurcules?

Malcolm.

RE:Massey Harris Implements.

Here is the second #14. This on has been slightly taken apart but the parts are still there. from what I can find there is both headers there, some extra wheels and a pull type massey swather. Both combines have 6 cylinder Hercules engnes. And these 6 cylinder hercules engine have a nice MH manifold on them that I am sure several people that think they have real 6 cylinder 4wd GP's would like to have on them....

RE:Massey Harris Implements.

Well, I got ambitious and decided to mount my 2 row corn planter onto the MH 30. It made me a little nervous putting rust on nice paint but the planter is in pretty good condition.

This is the every same set-up my dad had and used.  Probably the only difference is the pieces seemed a lot heavier than they were when I was in high school!!  We used this crazy thing through the early 1970's.  We were not the fastest to get our corn and beans in but it worked!

The tractor has the mechanical lift on it but it seems to have a problem we will need to work on but the planter should be in working order.  I have not seen too many with the markers in front of the rear wheels.  Whoever had this one must not have had much faith in the cables (missing) so he put chains on them so they would not get run over if he hit a rock with the marker.

If it goes on the trailer we might just haul this set up around this summer.

Something a little different.

RE:Massey Harris Implements.

Looking very good Gary and a very nice original example, pleased to see you getting into the implements attached to the tractors, it all helps to tell the story of what the tractor did for a living, today at the shows it is amazing how many people just do not understand what these old tractors did.

Here are some photographs of a very nice four row planter on a 44 which took my eye at Baraboo last August, a very well presented combination.

RE:Massey Harris Implements.

This is another very nice original two row planter on display at last years Expo at Baraboo, this excellent show brought out some very nice pieces of Massey history, I am surprised we have not seen more photographs of the event posted on here over the past few months.

RE:Massey Harris Implements.

Even a wonderful hand built scale model of a M-H corn planter in the wonderful model display at Baraboo.
The Wisconsin Massey Collectors certainly put some effort into their show.

RE:Massey Harris Implements.

I wonder if anyone recognises these two guy's?

There was certainly some "head scratching" discussions or decisions being made over this rather unusal M-H swather last August, the tractor and swather look to have a lot of potential to me, hope they both eventually get some attention and we hear of them working in the crop at harvest time.

RE:Massey Harris Implements.

They sure look confused to me!

Maybe they are trying to figure out how someone would cultivate and cut hay at the same time.
