You just never know what the future brings John and the "power of the wish listt", I am sure we all have items in our barns and collections that were just dreams a few years ago. So be careful what you ask for today as the old saying "energy follows thought" and who knows what you will have in your shed next year.

Those 150th plates do come up occasionally on ebay so keep watching.

And here is a very nice plate by Border Fine Arts, still in its original presentation case.  It features an MH 744 tractor and it is a reproduction of a painting by the celebrated transport artist Terence Cuneo.  Massey had about 10 such paintings commissioned from Cuneo and they are now worth 000s of pounds.  His paintings of railways are numerous and highly collectable commanding even higher prices on the rare occasions that they come up for sale.

This is a somewhat unusual plate in that it is black and white and not colour.  It shows a period shot of an MH 726 combine.  During its production period it was the most numerous of combise in the UK.  Virtually all of our early combines in the UK were of the bagger type, as shown here.  But these were soon to be replaced by new tankers, or converted to tankers with kits available from MH.  I drove one of these machines for hundreds of hours on our farms - truly GREAT MASSEY DAYS!  The width of cut was 8ft 6 in and in good clean standing barley on a dry sunny day it would need two men to keep up with bagging off the grain.  It was fitted with a 4 cylinder Morris Commercial petrol/TVO engine  which had a superbly responsive governor that really roared when it got a good mouth full of damp material to chew.   It produced a lovely clean sample of grain, and when it was finely rested up we still used it each winter to clean some grain for next year's seed from the new tanker MF 780 Special which did not produce such a clean sample.

Here's a plate for Ferguson fans depicting the range of "Ferguson" tractors.  How desparate it was that MH had to buy out Ferguson to get a modern world beating tractor design.  But at least both names live on as Massey Ferguson tho' sometimes I wish that they had retained the Harris as it was for five years in Massey-Harris-Ferguson.  One of the few tractors I still need to acquire sometim is a Mk 1 MF 65 because these were still badged Massey-Harris-Ferguson on the serial number plate.  They were fitted with the Perkins A4 192 engine.

At the moment we experiencing some great collectible Massey plates for our daily food, I know the temperatures have been very low recently and flies will not be a problem, but just get prepared as the days get longer and warmer to protect the food on your plate.

So here is a nice Massey dealer give away fly swatter, found a few years ago on a trip to the Wild Harvest National Show.

If you drop your cigarette onto the table John, you will need a Massey Harris thimble to repair the burn hole in your cloth, otherwise you could be in trouble, especially if you jab your finger with the needle!!
