RE:hi altitude tractors

MHEd,

I was intrigued by your earlier post on the 44K1WH you have your eye on.  Since this thread was started on High Altitude tractors, I was going to start a new thread on the 44 Wide Axle/Riceland tractors.  But, since Tom already replied here, I will as well.

I have sitting in my barn 44K1WH 46904.  It was converted to LP somewhere in it's life, but I plan to put it back to K.  As Tom stated, there aren't many of these wide axle/Riceland 44's know to still exist.  Until your post, I had the only K known of these.  Now we know of two of them!

I had an opportunity on a 44D1WH a couple of years ago, but hesitated too long on the price.  I now really regret that.  I don't have any idea where it went.

Here's a not very good photo of my 44K1WH showing the LP conversion.

John,
I'm glad you posted your picture.   I didn't realise I had posted the Diesel that sold instead of yours.  When you get older you will understand these mistakes.  Sad thing is that it doesn't get better.

OK - that makes more sense - not much Wheat in South Louisiana - but lots of Cane and Rice

RE:hi altitude tractors

Alot of cool looking tractors comming out of the woodwork here!! I know this is not a High Altitude tractor but it will fit in this conversation with the Long axles.

This is a 44 Special LP Wide axle that was on an auction where I bought one of my 20-30 Wallis tractors back in October 2010. I believe it resided in Dennis Browns collection unless he has found it a new home by now.

RE:hi altitude tractors

But I like the single front wheel.  You don't see those around too often.

RE:hi altitude tractors

Bill - why do you think it is not a Hi-Alt?  It has the "hi alt" decal on the hood and the serial number starts with 44G5R.  The "5" means HI-Alt, correct?

RE:hi altitude tractors

i missed the 5,

the pistons are not domed like in a Hi Alt.

but it  may be Hi Alt chassis.
