RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

My cast iron contribution for today is the M-H 717 fertiliser distributor engaging lever from behind the land wheel on the early model, later models were engaged by a forward lever near the drawbar.

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

For the weekend here is another unusual piece of M-H cast iron on my shelf. Still looking for the rest of the machine.

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

It's not cast iron I'm afraid and not all Massey although the sunshine part is I suppose. Sorry about the power unit. A guy gave me several photos of this machine. Alan

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Alan,

That is a magnificent Sunshine Harvester and as such very much part of the Massey scene.  Malcolm and I came across one in vey good condition outside at a museum in Manitoba some years ago.  We were able to get good shots of it.  I sat in the driving seat.  Men must have been men in those days to survive a day in that driving position!

Here is a spanner you may not yet be aware of - I have just picked it up.  I suspect that it is early MHF era given the numbering system on it which I believe came in at that time.  Mmaybe someone can teel us more about the date an origins of this parts numbering system.

It is 1 inch x 15/16ths.  I had never seen one like it before and it is marked:
M-H 625.529 M1

Hi Alan, I will attach a few pics of the cast iron Massey Harris and Sunshine equipment that I have. Hopefully they may be OK for you. Regards Buck

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Found another piece for you. I think John also had a photo a while ago of the same bench grinder. Only Massey Harris plaque on it, so probably fully imported by us down here.

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Hi Buck Thanks for the photos. I'll get them added to my list. One day there will be a book listing M-H, H V McKay etc wrenches hopefully. By the way what do you call a spanner in Australia? Is it a spanner as it is here in England or a wrench as in North America ? Alan

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

John Firstly some advice as to how you guys post on here and get it to come out in paragraphs. I write on here in paragraphs as you would in a letter and when I post it all comes out in a long line. Yes I would think that must have been some job driving a Stripper Harvester. What was the power unit on the one that you and Malcolm saw. I guess it would M-H tractor of some model or other. I imagine Sunshine strippers were quite rare in Canada and the U S. Alan

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Hi Alan, We have spanners down here, not wrenches. We have mudguards instead of fenders and we drive on the left side of the road, but its easy to convert to the local language. Happy to talk either. Buck

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Hi Buck, Thanks for the info. Good to know that you are the same as us. Also it's good to follow your thread on your tractors. Already learnt a lot by the comments. Nice to think that this Site is worldwide. Keep posting please. It is very interesting. Alan
