RE:Downunder Masseys

To follow on on the Decals on fire pressures I have just found this one on my 333 Row Crop. It is on the tool box and is in a poor condition. What I can read on it is:- Adopted by the Tire and Rim Association 3-1-38. Wish I could read more Alan

RE:Downunder Masseys

HI all,

Last weekend Dad and i drive 1000 miles to pick up this 44K Special and a nice Sunshine engine. I havent even cleaned the spark plugs in the 44, simply added fuel, fixed the fuel leak, pulled the choke and started straight away. It would be the best running and most original tractor that i have seen.  no other adjustments necessary, just an oil change today.  The amp gauge and engine radiator shutters still work.

On cleaning up, I noticed the front hub caps were orignally black.

When I picked it up from the scrap dealer, he had 3 others from the same farm, a 102 Senior, 55K, 44 std and a 745....all in the same condition.  Obviously well looked after and shedded all their lives.

I just hope that they all find worthy homes.  If I had the money, they would have all come home with me.

The orignal decals have come up beautifully and we are ready for our first outing tomorrow.  John - I am starting to fall in love with penetrol as a preserver, keeping this one original.

S/No 55245  Regards Buck

Buck,

What a super original example of this model of tractor!

Delighted that you are joining the ever increasing band of enthusiasts who are preserving tractors and equipment in original condition - and buyers are appreciating such tractors too.  Just get them up and running looking as if they have done a day's work!  Keep them sprayed down with oil once or twice a year or as you have done with penetrol.

Marvellous!!

John

RE:Downunder Masseys

Just picked up a nice original Sunshine Massey Harris 7' power mower.  The decals are in pretty reasonable condition and the tyres pumped up.  The original owner only used it 2 days ago.  I just finished pressure cleaning and will give it the penetrol treatment.  I am thinking will look good attached to the 44 Special.   Regards  Buck

Just found this old beauty. S/No 1008 Anniversary model. Ive never seen the throttle mounting in brass before. I feel that this will be another preservation instead of restoration.

RE:Downunder Masseys

Buck,

Nice original 44. Just my opinion, but I'd leave it the way it was found. I believe when a tractor(s) are preserved, it keeps the tractors character and history.  As someone once told me, "they are only original once".

Cheers

Great find Buck!!  I have to think most of the K's found their way to Australia. I bought my 44K from Tub Drohmans Auction.  It is in the process of restoration.  It ran but need ed lots of work on it!

If you ever run across a 33K let me know.  I have searched all over the internet to find someone who might have one.  We found one in Alabama that is now here in Indiana but I can not find anyone who has seen or knows where another one might be.

I am like you - I would keep it as it is if you can!

Good job taking care of our heritage!
