RE:Massey-Harris Wrenches

Thanks Joe. No I hadn't got that one. I've added it to the list with a picture.
Fish & Chips are one of our national dishes the trouble is I don't like fish!!!
Had a great day at Malcolm's looking at his Collection and photograghing his wrenches. It means I can put a picture of the wrench with the part # and discription which I think will help identification easier.

Well Joe and co. get food into every thread on this MCA site!!!  I think food is bcoming more important than tractors so I will continue with the theme.

Here are a couple of shots of an MF tractor birthday cake mde for my two grandsons Sam and David by my daughter Sian and her partner Domonic.  It was truly a masterpiece in both design and taste - and Gary - each slice was served with a dollop of our rich Jersey double cream.  Sheer ecstasy and indulgence!!!

Wow! That is one great looking cake!! Quite a masterpiece can almost taste it just looking at it!!

You will be pleased to know I believe I have found the solution to the "Cream" problem in America. The next time some one has plans to come my way to visit, just give me a couple days notice so I can fix them up with some Berries and "Cream" Minnesota style when they arrive.

Alan:

I was digging in a tool box on one of my GP's and found what I believe is an original Oil Pressure adjusting wrench. There is supposed to be two wrenches to adjust the oil pressure one to loosen the locking nut (this wrench I found) and one to tighten the pressure against the spring and ball. The book lists this wrench as # H 2268 this one appears to be missing the handle or possibly this is the way it was made. The other wrench that goes with this is # H 2255 it is a T handle style wrench.

I also found a spark plug wrench in the box with # T 2178 This does not jive with any numbers in the book but it could possibly be from another tractor because it starts with "T" don't know if it is Massey or not, What do you think?

RE:Massey-Harris Wrenches

Joe -

Amazingly the cake was all edible.  The dark grey wheels were covered in grey icing made by adding some grey food dye to normal icing.  If I recall correctly the axles were made form sticks of solid chocolate.  The grass around it was edible dyed coconut!

Now as for that cream you really are setting yourself a task!  I will be sending my personal representative across to Baraboo where you can present him with it and he can then verify that all is to the required British standard !

Could do with some strawberries and cream here today - it has hit 75 degrees and more to come.  Astronomical temps for this time of the year - all to be paid for next month I fear.

RE:Massey-Harris Wrenches

Alan,

Just as a point of interest a friend has just reported to me that a Ferguson wrench made a staggering £560 (= approx 860 US$) on UK e bay last night!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Don't know what was so special about it but will try and find out.

Joe:
Thanks for the info. I have those two wrenches listed and I had them down as being used to adjust the oil pressure but it is real good to get that comfirmed. What engine on the GP were they used on? I don't have a picture of them thouigh. Can I use yours?
The Spark Plug wrench I can't find anywhere. I can't find it in my liturature for any other tractor either. As you say M-H , Wallis and Sawyer -Massey have a lot of wrenches with T in the # but as yet I can't find anything. Could it be a Spark Plug Company's Wrench like Champion or some other company. Whats your take on it? I'll keep looking.

John:
Be good to think some of the ones I have could make that sort of money but I doubt it. More like £10. I have a fergie wrench from the M-H-F era with M-H-F stamped on it and I think there is a Ford Ferguson one but I have never heard of Fergie wrenches making that sort of money. Thinking about it there are some odd ball ones for the trailer wheel nuts and a cut away ring wrench for the nuts on the injectors on a TEF. Be interesting to know what wrench it was.

RE:Massey-Harris Wrenches

John:

Wow!! That is alot of money to pay for a wrench for a tractor that never breaks down!!

If it works here is a link to the ended auction.

RE:Massey-Harris Wrenches

Alan,

Could possibly be from the Ferguson Brown era.  Is there someone out there who has a parts manual and can check it?
