Thanks

RE:Massey-Harris Wrenches

Hello Alan

Hope all is well back in England?

Just checking on the website whilst in Canada before we head down to Rushville.

I would expect the wrench you pictured above to be a Wiard.

I have just bought a wrench which I thought you may enjoy seeing, it is # 124 from the J I Case Plow Company which I believe pre dates "Plow Works"
This will go well with my Plow Company cast iron seat.

Hello Malcolm,

Thanks for confirming the Wiard wrench for me.

Thanks also for the photo of the #124 Wrench from the J I Case Plow Works A nice find. I have it on the list but no photo until now.

I hope you all have a lovely time in Rushville and also on the rest of your trip.

Alan

Here is another one for you Alan, the largest J I  Case Plow Works wrench I have seen, #883 and about 15 inches on length, it will fit in my suitcase somewhere.

You are having some nice finds. I am sure it will fit into your suitcase somehow.

M-H had a wrench the same as your one.

RE:Massey-Harris Wrenches

Malcolm,

I hope your enjoying the hot weather we've been having to make up for all the cold damp weather you put up with for so long back home. It finally broke here today and is now 62 degrees here, hope it hangs around for Indiana.

Alan,

I see the price of Massey Harris wrenches is holding strong!! Here is one that just fetched $180.27 + $7.45 shipping. Don't know if you already have this one on your list but here is some pictures of it.

Thanks for the photo. I do have that one on the list. It was supplied with the #30A Disc Harrow.
There was one in Australia a few months back that didn't make that much money but the postage spoilt it.

Here is a M-H-F  818118 M1 that I bought recently.

RE:Massey-Harris Wrenches

Here are some photos of some wrenches that I have just bought. They seem to be part of a M-H wrench set from #625 524 M1 to 625 530 M1. I have some missing.

Does anyone know what implements or machines that these wrenches were sent out with. I can't find any information on them at all.

Thanks

Alan

Sorry the first photo is not one of the set.

RE:Massey-Harris Wrenches

In 1905 M-H had an agreement with The Iowa Cream Separator Co to manufacture their Separators under the M-H name.

Does anyone know if the wrenches # C 280, C281, C 1645, C 1717 etc were supplied by The Iowa Cream Separator before 1905 or were these M-H wrenches used only after 1905. I suspect they were used before 1905 but it would be nice to know for sure.

I have found three wrenches that are Iowa Cream Separator wrenches. They are Double Open Ended S shaped wrenches. One with  Big A Line cast on the Handle.

Thanks

Alan

RE:Massey-Harris Wrenches

Alan,
My books don't show any Iowa cream separator with a Massey name.  The #1 cream separator was first manufactured in 1905 by Massey.  It was a chain drive separator.  Iowa never made a chain drive.  My parts book for the #1 shows C1142 and C1141 as well as a monkey wrench C1287 and a screwdriver C1140.  C1142 was a bowl wrench with a C shaped end,  The #3 separator had a C1286 for a bowl wrench.   Also listed with the #1 is a C170 box wrench.
