Spotted in Canada

Before coming down to Rushville we spent a week up in Canada where we spotted -

1. An old dealers sign on it's original pole and not for sale!
2. A lovely MF 65 multi power diesel for sale in an MF dealership at 5500 Canadian $ but said to smoke a bit
3. A Sawyer Massey road grader outside the Massey shed at the Country Heritage Park which had been renovated for them by a private individual but was sadly being left outside exposed to the elemnst and already had a flat tyre

RE:Spotted in Canada

Just had my pics back from the photographers.  Here's a lovely sign that I am sure everyone would like to adorn their shed wall.  It's in the Massey-Harris shed at the museum in Milton, Ontario, Canada.  Must be one of a kind??

RE:Spotted in Canada

Not sure which thread to put this into.

As it relates to "Massey Mens Food" it could of gone in there especially as John started the thread with the photograph of a freezer in his ice cream discussion and 184 posts and 76,704 views later the thread continues to thrive, guess we all have to keep eating!!!!!

Anyway to revive this "Spotted in Canada" thread here is a photograph of a new exhibit in th entrance to the Massey Buliding in Milton Ontario, a superb original example of a M-H home freezer.

RE:Spotted in Canada

Spotted in a nice old Canadian wooden barn early July this Massey Harris bob sleigh with flat rack looked to have plenty of patina and character.

RE:Spotted in Canada

Seen working hard on the sawmill at the Ilderton show in July was this Sawyer Massey steam engine, a localy owned engine from the Searson family a well known name in the Sawyer Massey circles of Ontario.

Also a photograph of the remains of a Sawyer Massey steam engine water wagon seen at the Milton Museum, the original black lettering was just visible on each end of the tank, I hope they see sense and get it rebuilt to a usable state again, it would be a shame to see this rare item just rot away.

RE:Spotted in Canada

This weekend we made a trip 400 miles north of here to Ste Rose Manitoba to attend this auction. There was a good amount of Massey stuff there. Nearly everything went high. I was after the Olds engine but didn't even get to bid. This was an 8hp Olds sold by Massey. Going to Alberta.

Also on the sale was a 81 standard, 82 standard, 20 wide front with Arps half tracks, And a Massey horse cultivator bringing a good price of $500.

RE:Spotted in Canada

Nice engine Tom, where did the bidding finsih on it?

Here are a few shots of the early Sawyer Massey separator photographed at Milton museum this year, whilst waiting for John to fly into Toronto airport at the start of our trip I browsed the building which had all the threshing machines hauled outside for a good clean up of the building and got the wheels turned out of their sunken holes in the floor. Never seen many of them move there over the years.

RE:Spotted in Canada

The olds engine sold for $10,000. Quite a bit over what I expected.

RE:Spotted in Canada

Thanks Tom, it certainly sold extremely well.

I know these photographs are not Massey related but thought they were worth showing on here, whilst all the Canadian threshing machines was outside getting the dust and cobwebs blown off them I took some photos of the escellent original decals with some superb artwork from the various Companies. It was good to see some work had been done to preserve some of them, all the machines were crying out for a good dose of linseed oil and diesel.

Malcolm

What some lovely photos of the art work on the threshing machines at Milton. The Companies put a lot more effort into making their machines stand out in those days. Better than the stickers they use now.

Am I right in thinking George White made threshing machines for Massey-Harris ?
