RE:XMAS DAY Start Up!

Malcolm,

We will be joining with you on Xmas Day afternoon out here in the west.  You should hear fire up us about 3-4 pm when the turkey has settled!  So why don't the rest of you join in with us then afterwards report in.  The kids love it!

In the meantime to all of you a very Merry Xmas and a prosperous and Happy Massey New Year.

John

RE:XMAS DAY Start Up!

John & Malcolm, I figured I would participate in your winter startup program this year as I had about an hour to kill before going to my brothers for Christmas. We had -10 degrees here yesterday but today it was 8 degrees when I woke up and snowing so I figured it may work today. As my shed is so full this year this GP gets to sleep under the stars and gets a blanket of snow to cover up with for now. This tractor usually starts in the first three pulls of the crank but today didn't go after the 15th pull of the crank so I checked the gas and would you believe they start much better with gas in the tank... Took it out in the snow and it got around very well.. Joe

RE:XMAS DAY Start Up!

Joe,

You beat me to it!!!

We had Xmas lunch about 12 noon (big buzzard) then a snooze, then listened to the Queen's speech at 3pm. By then it was going dark so off down to the shed.  Switched the lights on the green wide front Challenger for the grandkids.

Then being older and wiser Joe I checked the petrol.  It needed a top up.  Then two pulls on choke and away she went on the next pull.  It was like listening to a good Xmas carol - music to the ears!  Quite pleasing that it did start - it's awfully damp here and the magnetos don't like it.

So that's it.  Time coming round for some Xmas pudding and Xmas cake then a nother snooze will be needed.

Have a great day all of you

John

RE:XMAS DAY Start Up!

I can't start any Massey's or wallis tractors today but we are going for a little ride after lunch to enjoy our white snow and temps above zero for the first time in a while. They say a couple more days below zero and we set a record for cold temps in December around here. This weekend is going to be -20*F again.

RE:XMAS DAY Start Up!

I'm away this Christmas so can't start a tractor up. My Xmas Day start up was reading Massey Harvesters by John Farnworth that Father Christmas brought me. A very interesting book. A must for all Massey enthuiasts. Alan

RE:XMAS DAY Start Up!

Tom,

So what's the excuse for no startup?????!!!!!!!!
Price of petrol?  Too much to eat?  Late night last night?

Have a good day
John

RE:XMAS DAY Start Up!

I guess my only excuse is living an hours drive away from all the tractors...

RE:XMAS DAY Start Up!

Happy Christmas everyone, hope all your Massey wishes have come true under the tree this morning. Well done everyone in the "days start up" I am pleased to say it was a sunny and bright day here, no signs of any snow yet thankfully, looks like it was the day for GP's bursting into life, as that was the one I chose to start just before 3pm this afternoon, it was the one with gas still in the tank so that made for a very easy start up, not too much strain on the back when it started on the third pull up. Then it was time for a big snooze and digest the eating of too many roast potatoes with the turkey. Pleased to hear you are enjoying the new Harvester book Alan. Enjoy the rest of your holidays. Malcolm

RE:XMAS DAY Start Up!

I don't think I will get our new Wallis started this year.
Maybe next year?
