RE:Paisley Ontario Show

Thanks for all of the pictures Malcolm, It makes me wish I made the trip to the show! There was alot of stuff that isnt seen around here.

RE:Paisley Ontario Show

After leaving the Paisley Show on our way back to the Milton area for a few more days we passed a local show in Mennonite country, we stopped and had a quick look around, their feature was I-H with plenty of red tractors, the Massey area was very very small, there was a nice Sawyer Massey steam engine.

Further along the road before leaving the Mennonite community I just had to stop and take a photograph of the stooks of grain in the fields, we had seen a lot of this done and the horses and wagons leading the sheaves back to the farnyards, a sight which brought back memories for me as a boy in the 1970's of riding our Massey Harris binder once a year and cutting wheat for one of our local threshing shows. It was a sight to see a complete field of stooks and no trails of straw left from a combine harvester, we are so used to seeing today.

Malcolm.

RE:Paisley Ontario Show

I would like to thank all those that had a part in making Paisley such an enjoyable experience for my wife and I. I did miss seeing some more Wallis tractors, but at these shows I always enjoy checking out the back forty, so to speak. While at Paisley there was a couple of Wallis projects on a trailer. Is there a story to be told as to the future of these two tractors.

RE:Paisley Ontario Show

Doug:

The tractors you saw were not Wallis tractors they were Unstyled Pacemakers, I believe the Serial #s were 107047 (tractor with engine in)  and 109428 or 109128 (tractor missing engine)  as it was hard to see in my picture.

These two tractors were hauled to the show to make delivery to Steve Arnold and a friend that I can't remember his name but met him and he seemed pretty positive about getting them back together. I believe they got most all the parts with them to put them back right and get them running again.

I too was suprised there weren't any Wallis Tractors at the show. I talked with some of the locals and they said there were never any Wallis Tractors in their area that they can remember and if you find one it has been moved in the area years later.

I guess if you really have a hankering to see some Wallis Tractors you will have to make a trip to Minnesota sometime, I have forty some of them in my collection.

Kep Um Cranking...

RE:Paisley Ontario Show

Thanks Joe,
I respect the talent of anyone who would able to bring those projects back to life! I am working at restoring a 20-30 now but my donor tractor looks more complete than those ones. There seem to be a number of Pacemakers and 20-30s out west in our part of the country.
During our travels this summer we saw a few Wallis tractors. I got to see my first Wallis Cub up close at Marshalltown at the Mid Iowa show. We were down through Minnesota after Paisley and visited LeSueur and Rollag. Some time later I realized when we stayed at Red Wing we were close to your place. If only we knew we were so close to that many Wallis tractors we  would have loved to stop and have a look.

RE:Paisley Ontario Show

Again Sorry I am tardy in posting some pics of Paisley but here are a few of my favorites!!

I too enjoyed the summer harvest and found this field on the way to the show.

Of course, we have our Massey hippie throwback enjoying a rest during the show!!  Peace and Love!!!

The third pic is an impressive display of Massey family toy tractors.

The fourth pic is an interesting life size model on display in one of the barns on the grounds.  It was a very neat display that I am sure has a great story.  I just could not find anyone who knew what it was!

Gary

PS Thanks Malcolm for posting Drew's grinder.  You are correct - there was a bunch of interesting dealing for that displayed grinder!! Besides the grinder, think there was an anvil, a complete 21" dinner/school bell, some Massey wrenches and I don't know what else but there was some interesting trading going on between the flea market, display area, backs of trucks and all around the grounds.

RE:Paisley Ontario Show

Gary,

The months are now slipping by and the memories may be fading a little from the 2013 Paisley Expo, so just wanted to take this opportunity to prompt you and the board along in the planning of the 2014 Expo in Rushville.
You know personally how we all enjoyed the "hunting, trading, bargaining and dealing" in Bruce County, so NOW YOU HAVE TO EVEN BETTER that at Rushville this year, so TRUST you are currently seeking some great traders to fill your spaces on the Indiana grounds???

Malcolm.
