RE:MASSEY SEATS

Here are some of the seats I have. Most have been discussed earlier but I thought I would share.

The top one is the z82 with Massey Harris Canada, the nest one below it is a first z82, the third one is the stamped metal seat with Massey Harris across the top.  The fourth seat is the Massey Toronto.  I didn't bother to take individual pics since most have been shown before.

I do have a Blackstone seat coming but has not appeared in Danville yet.  Thanks John and Malcolm for educating me on the Blackstone connection!!

RE:MASSEY SEATS

I ran across the guy who made the National Show seats at the Milton Show several years ago and he had a seat recognizing the Massey Harris Mustang tractor.  Since I had eht "four horses" he made the other three seats to mak a set for the Pony, Pacer, Colt and Mustang!!  Doubt if he made many others so it could be a rare set of four seats (even if they are repros!!)

RE:MASSEY SEATS

Nice to see the set of four reproductions Gary. Expect you have got your 2013 Paisley, Ontario M-H Expo seat on order for collection in August?

Whilst talking about rproductions I got an email from a collector earlier in the year asking about M-H-F era cast iron seats, of which he had apparently purchased one in a collective auction.
My reaction was that cast iron seats were long out of fashion and too costly for production in the 1950's and offered my thoughts of it being a modern reproduction.

Early March at the Malvern indoor tractor show again in the Saturday auction another of these seats appeared, the design is very similar to lots of cast iron seats but when picked up it weighed almost double what an original of this style would, so confirmed to me it was a modern repro patterened off an old seat with lettering modification and cast in iron rather than alluminum like your set Gary or the Expo seats..

Has any of these been seen across the pond?

RE:MASSEY SEATS

Hi Malcolm,

Yes I have my 2013 seat on order!!  Too bad they still have not gotten the show name correct on the seat but that is a detail.  I

t is interesting about the MHF seat..  You have to wonder if the same guy made them before he discovered it was easier and cheaper to make them of aluminum.  I have not seen any of the MHF seat over here but I usually don't look for them.  Guess I will have to be more attentive on these as well!!

RE:MASSEY SEATS

Nice one - have never seen that one before.  Have seen some of the cast ones but so far they have eluded me in collecting them.  Is that a tin one and not cast iron?

John

RE:MASSEY SEATS

Is tin. Have 2 to our collection, this is the better of the 2. Picked up at "Field of Dreams" auction in Nebraska last fall

RE:MASSEY SEATS

Here is another variation of the J I Case cast iron seat which followed me home this weekend from the spring Cheffins sale.

This is one I have not seen before with the wordiing of "Plow Co" rather than the usual "Plow Works"

RE:MASSEY SEATS

At the same auction Saturday there was a Massey Buckeye seat as previously mentioned in this seat thread and  John confirmed it is part of the Massey family of cast iron seats.

RE:MASSEY SEATS

Here are two variations of another Blackstone seat which I trust will help Gary with his growing collecton of British Massey family seats in Indiana.

The wording on the front of both seats are the same, the difference is one has a rectangle cast into the rear of the seat for the fixing of a rear facing nameplate.
