Following Alan's posting this morning about the possibility of the M-H N0 8 ensilage chopper being made by Blizzard it prompted me to revive this old Blizzard thread, it may be the nudge and encouragement I need to get on and finish my long on going project since 1997.

Only last week on my trip West to "The Massey Machine Shop" did I return with the newly machined tapered axles for the Blizzard wooden frame, the new timber has been sat in the shed a few years drying now, so when the current sprayer project is finished I think its the Blizzard next.

In the meantime here is another photo I recently found of the Blizzard lying in the sand at The Dome Valley Auction. This photo shows the remains of the timber frame, wheels and axles which are my next phase of the Blizzard restoration here in Lincolnshire.

I hope some of our North American readers can clarify where the later M-H ensilage choppers were made and if they had any connection to the earlier Blizzard design and manufacturing in Canton Ohio?

If Blizzard did make the Massey #8s they really made a drastic design change or the engineer was left handed because they blow the opposite way.

As you say a lot of differences and my guess would be a totally different manufacturer and was they in the USA?

Maybe you can put it on the agenda for your meeting next week in Iowa, as always there are plenty of un answered questions, someone out there just might have the answers, we await your report.

In the meantime here is a nice piece of Blizzard cast iron memorabilia taking pride of place in an Ontario Massey Museum. I expect it's the remains of another Blizzard which met its fate and went for scrap, luckily someone had the sense to pull this from the pile.

Nice looking piece! I bet John would just love to have that one in his cast iron shed!!

Been digging around but have not got a lead on as to where the Massey Blowers were made yet but from all the blowers I looked at they most resemble a Papec blower made in Shortsville, New York.

Here is a picture of how they display their Blizzard blower in Iowa. Some may not think it is a good way but it really gets your heart pumping and mind spinning when looking at the display just thinking of all the potential some of these Items could have in the pile.

I don't know if I have posted this picture somewhere on here before but for some reason I thought I did but here it is anyway. This was a display at the 2014 Iowa show in Forest City, IA called Iron Memories. I am sure they were very careful when setting up this display as to not ruin anything for some later in life projects. I thought it was a lovely display.

A very interesting "Iron Memories pile" everything very strategically placed in position, I bet there was a lot of discussion from viewers standing by the wire fence.

Also interested to hear you talk about the Papec machine, again many years ago I heard of one of these in East Yorkshire from a collector who was looking at my Blizzard, at the time I did not pay much attention to this as it was not M-H, I probably should of investigated further and now I wonder if it was one from the large Yorkshire estate mentioned in the other thread. Thanks for filling in where these Papec's were built.

While looking through the fold outs for the No 8 ensilage chopper thread I came a cross this Blizzard two page fold out, I just thought the address on the bottom was interesting and one I don't recall seeing before, does anyone know any more about the Californian Blizzard connection?
