What to do this coming weekend !!!

Well, here it is, Monday morning.  Your sitting there surfing one of your favorite Sites on the Web.  Your kinda bummed, like me, because it just won't workout for you to head to Rushville.  So you say to yourself, (your name here),  What can I do this coming weekend to get my Massey Fix?  My answer to you is head on over to The Western Illinois Threshers Assoc, Show at Hamilton, Illinois.  Friday July 31,  Saturday August 1st., and Sunday August 2nd .  Hamilton, Illinois is located on the beautiful West Coast of Illinois,  just across from Keokuk, Iowa,  the very southeast corner of Iowa.  This year, " Threshers" is featuring Massey-Harris, and related Companies. This year a Massey-Harris 33 with wide front is the Show's Raffle Tractor.  I always rate this Show highly.  Threshers does something most shows do not do.  They place all Tractors being displayed by brand, and then by age, using serial numbers.  This feat is quite impressive, since 250 to 350 Tractors of all brands are represented!!!!  Soooo, as Neil Diamond's song goes, pack up the babies, and grab the old Ladies and let's everyone go to "Threshers' this coming weekend!!!!!!  See you there.....   Tim Pace

RE:What to do this coming weekend !!!

Well Tim, you could go up to center point Iowa this Saturday and buy this 25.

RE:What to do this coming weekend !!!

Hi ya Tom,   Guess the word is out about this sale.  I was through there years ago, and I remember some Tractors that don't appear on the sale bill.  I would love to go pick around for parts, but I am committed to The Hamilton Show!!!!  I also have 2 people already showing interest in the 25 .  A question for you Tom.  Have you ever heard any thing out of Jesse, who years ago was restoring, I think a Wallis  OK  ?  Best to you my friend..... Tim

RE:What to do this coming weekend !!!

I have not heard from him Tim.

The sale appears to be the second one they have had at the place. I would like the 25 but I am going to buy a new truck next week so that should slow me down a little bit.

Good luck at the show.

RE:What to do this coming weekend !!!

Tim,

You could do like I did last weekend and jump on Craigslist and find an old piece of Massey equipment that was headed for the scrap yard if not sold, buy it sight unseen, drive 60 miles to pick it up, spend all day Saturday getting the engine unstuck and running, loosen up all the stuck levers and cables, clean the coon droppings and pine needles out of it and oil it down to look like new.

I know this sounds like a lot of work but look at the plus side, I lost 8 pounds crawling up and down working on this and made an 85 year old man very happy to hear it is now running again and not going to the scrap like his kid wanted it to. And even better I now have another new Massey friend and he has some more Massey Items he wants me to get from him. It's a Win WIn situation, I now have a very nice machine and a new Massey friend. the only problem is now,    Where Do I put it???

RE:What to do this coming weekend !!!

Very cool piece of MH iron to add to your collection.  A better question is, where do you find some corn to pick so you can see how well it runs!

RE:What to do this coming weekend !!!

Well Joe, you do have a problem.  I have told you on several occasions that a new BIG shed is needed.  But you may as well order 2 at the time, because before you know it Jo- Jo will have the first one filled with her Snowman Collection.  Last Weekend down at Hamilton, I took the camper and a little of my memorabilia down, and was offered a nice M-H 26.  Thanking them for the opportunity, I then said, how ironic it would be to put up a $80,000 Shed to put $10,000 worth of combines in.  Just doesn't seem right.   Tim

RE:What to do this coming weekend !!!

Well Tim,

Did you buy the 25 to add to your collection?

I checked out the auctioneers website and it shows it sold on the day for $1,900 which if correct was a very realistic buy for someone, if it's not in your shed now do you know where it has ended up? and wondered if we may see it out in the future.

It looks to be a very genuine original tractor.

Malcolm.
