THE ADVERTISING OF MASSEY-HARRIS, FERGUSON AND MASSEY FERGUSON

Author: John Farnworth

ISBN 0 85236 528 4

320 pages

Here's a highly pictorial book that I prepared some time ago all about Massey's advertising history - it's something of a coffee table book - almost every page a repro of old advertisements. It covers M-H, Ferguson and Massey Ferguson.

A GLOBAL CORPORATION. A history of the international development of Massey Ferguson Ltd

Author: E P Neufeld

SBN No. 8020 3204 4.

427 pages.

Today's book takes up Massey's corporate history where "Harvest Triumphant" (which I listed earlier) finished. It is a thoroughly researched book by E P Neufeld who took a year of from Toronto University to write it. It basically covers the period from the end of World War II to 1968. It therefore covers the end of M-H days, the merger with Ferguson and the early development of MF into a truly Global Corporation. He had free access to all company documents.

HARRY FERGUSON. INVENTOR AND PIONEER

Author: Colin Fraser

ISBN no.0 9533651 2 3

288 PAGES

Here's a treasure of a book for the Ferguson collectors. The paperback you see here is a recent reproduction of a hard back originally published in 1972. It's a very detailed read about Harry Ferguson's life by a man who worked as a Ferguson instructor, yet never met the great man. Colin Fraser was given full access to the Ferguson family archives and he interviewed people who had known him. It is the definitive biography of Harry Ferguson.

RURAL REVOLUTION

Author: J Wenworth Day, issued by Harry Ferguson Ltd.
112 PAGES

For the Ferguson enthusiasts here's a book which is a delight to read. Prepared for Harry Ferguson (who issued it) by J Wentworth Day, it recounts in quite clinical and analytical terms the experiences of farmers who used the Ferguson system and discusses it all in the context of the surge in farm mechanisation going on at the time.

A WORLD-WIDE GUIDE TO MASSEY FERGUSON 100 AND 1000 SERIES TRACTORS 1964-1988

Author John Farnworth

ISBN1-904686-05-2

This is another of my books. It had slowly become apparent to me that there were a LOT of MF 100 series tractors in particular, and 1000 series tractor models that had been manufactured around the world. So I set about identifying them as far as I possibly could and this is the result. I've even had ex MF men come up to me and say they never knew that there were so many! I also got down some experiences of MF employees of the era. There's a brief specification for each model and a photo.

Chapters: Introduction of MF 100 and 1000 series, Launching the new tractors, A global sales impact, Authors experience of MF 100s, Prototype MF 1100s, MF special operations, From the AGCO photo archives, Appreciating and selling the MF 1100 and 1300s, MF 120s, MF 130s, MF 140s, MF 150s, MF 160s, MF 170s, MF 180s, MF 190s, MF crawlers, MF 1000s, MF articulated 1000s, Non MF four wheel drive conversions of MF 100s
