MASSEY HARRIS ALBUM

Author. Alan Condie

ISBN No. 0 907742 18 1

40 Pages

Here's a thin 40 pager. This one was probably the first book - more of a booklet -on Massey-Harris tractors to be produced in the UK in 1968. It's a simple black and white, mainly pictorial overview of the M-H tractor range with serial numbers at the back.

Here's another "booklet". A 59 pager on MF tractors between 1958 and 1982 so it covers from the MF35/65 tractors through to the MF 500s and some 200s. Mostly pictorial black and white but a useful overview with serial numbers at the back.

THE "FERGIE" 20 FAMILY

Author: Alan Condie

ISBN No. 0-907742 51 3

32 pages

Another thin "booklet" but nevertheless informative through its black and white photos. It covers the Ferguson tractor range and quite a few of the British implements. Serial numbers at the back. Like the last two booklets it is one of the early era of tractor publications over here.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF MASSEY FERGUSON AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PRODUCT RANGE

Prepared and published by AGCO 2001

52 pages

I'm now starting on a run of small booklets which can still be found for sale second hand. Most not surprisingly relate to Ferguson because of its fame. However the first is an AGCO publication which was designed to give an insight into some of the major events that had taken place in the building of the company since its inception. This third edition was prepared in 2001.

HARRY FERGUSON AND HENRY FORD

Author John B Rae for the Ulster Historical Foundation.

ISBN. 0 90195 23 3

32 pages.

Today's small booklet is a little gem about the Henry Ford and Harry Ferguson relationship. It was prepared by the Ulster Historical Foundation, Ulster being the other name for Northern Ireland where Harry Ferguson was born. It was prepared by a Professor of the history of Technology and is extremely well researched and all references quoted. A valuable and informative document.

THE LEGENDARY LTX TRACTOR

Author. Erik Fredriksen

copyright Erik Fredriksen 2000.

26 Pages

Here's a bit of Ferguson which most of you across the Atlantic will not be aware of. At the time of the M-H and Ferguson merger, Harry Ferguson had his engineers on each side developing a new tractor. In N America it was to become the TO 35, on our side it was the LTX or potentially the Ferguson tractor - a big Ferguson. The prototypes were put through their paces and apparently had quite outstanding performance. Erik Fredriksen who wrote this booklet tested them. However shortly after the merger the LTX was dropped and the prototypes sadly sent to the great smelter in the sky. Erik put down this record of the great tractor 2-3 years before he died. An invaluable little read if you can get hold of a copy.

FERGUSON ALBUM.

Author: Colin Booth

Copyright Colin Booth and AT Condie 1981

66 pages

This booklet is possibly the first ever written in the UK about Ferguson tractors. Colin Booth used to work for MF in the technical writing department and later in Perkins. On many occasions he helped me out with a bit of info. Nice little rear but copies now hard to find. Just shows - 30 years ago there were hardly any publications of real substance on tractors!
