That swather must be one of the very few implements Massey made for the MH 44 Special High Crop!!!   Look how high that PTO shaft is on the implement!?!?!  Wonder why??

This is another reminder for JWB of what he has missed seeing at the Spring Malvern indoor tractor shows over the past few years since he visited.

Here is a nice display stand the Ferguson Heritage Club put together encompassing both M-H  and  M-F. For the M-H enthusiasts here is a very nice Dickie 714 hay turner behind a well restored 101, this model of Dickie was very successful for rowing up the crop in readiness for baling, always identifiable by the concrete weight on the rear of the machine to keep the wheels turning the gearbox.

Here is another Massey implement that I recently found pictures of. I guess it is on an auction in Texas but I cant find if it is already sold or not. Anyway I have not seen a setup like this before outside of the brochures. looks interesting.

Back to the Junior with the mounted cultivator pulling the swather. It did look odd but back in he late 50's and into the 60's, I remember Dad and Grandpa pulling the rear cultivator gangs off the tractor so they could pull something or use the PTO. If they needed to do other fieldwork such as roteryhoeing, making hay or even pulling the combine for oats they would also remove the front gangs leaving the main frame on the tractor.

They had hydraulic lift two row cultivators mounted on the 30, 33 and 44. There were just four front gangs. The lift rods were held on with a spring pin and the gangs were held onto the beam with a breakover latch. It only took about 10 or 15 minutes to put the cultivator on or take it off. So in June or July it wasn't uncommon to see a tractor with all or part of a cultivator mounted on it pulling another implement.

Good to hear your memories Bob, not a tractor for each implement  on the farm in those days like we see today. With regard to Joe's Junior on the swather, it looks so different with those cast rear wheels.

Here is a M-H No 26 two furrow general purpose plough in a sale last Saturday, this model of plough was one of the most popular M-H ploughs sold in UK.

Thanks for the photo's Alan, always good to see a Massey at work, it does them good to be used and enjoyed, makes everyone a winner. If you are working this weekend you will need a Massey Umbrella on the tractor to keep the sun out of your eyes.
