I know what you are saying.
I think the best strategy as a general principle is don't let anyone commercial have anything for free when it comes to photos and articles - and always get the temrs agreed in advance. If it is a club magazine then that is different.
It is also getting a bit the same with some of our commercial shows where you take a tractor or whatever along at great expense in terms of transport costs (now horrendous when you factor in tax, insurance and depreciation on top of fuel), overnight accomodation and subsistence. We put all this in to make their show on which they profit from their gate fees - and often they will only give you a single pass with none for your partner
Food for thought - up to folks to make their own decisions!
