RE:Massey Harris Foldout Advertisements

Now an example from the "letters-numbers" category,

The F-14, a very colourful  foldout on the wheel barrows and scufflers, I wonder why they put those two together in a brochure?

For the Wallis enthusiasts amongst us here is the British Cub Junior, 6 X 3 inch foldout, one which I have been digesting a lot recently and the Canadian 15-27, both these have no reference markings at all.

RE:Massey Harris Foldout Advertisements

To continue with these interesting 3x6 foldouts here is a very colourful one from the gas engine range of foldouts.
This brochure is the British version with the London mailing address on the bottom, it was used for the purchase of a M-H Type 2 4.5HP engine back in the 1920's, I bought the engine in the 1980's and came complete with brochure, instruction and parts books.
Note the dealers address on the back, somewhere in Wales of which I am sure John will help us pin point the location, over the years several of my M-H Type 2 engines have come from the West so presume this was a succesful dealer who sold many engines in that area.

This same foldout was available in both North America and Canada.

RE:Massey Harris Foldout Advertisements

Malcolm,

Llanybydder (as it is now spelt) is in the heart of mid Wales and lies about 20 miles east of wher Lyn Jones live - who some of you Americans have visited with me.

Nice brochure and particularly bearing the fuel name paraffin to keep our overseas Massey men on their toes!

John

RE:Massey Harris Foldout Advertisements

Thanks John,

I often wondered what part of Wales it was from originally, as discussed on the phone yesterday we should document all these old M-H dealerships whilst we still remember them!!

I am sure the M-H gas engine enthusiasts noticed on that brochure front cover yesterday the illlustration of the Type 2 engine is the early version of the Type 2 with low tension Webster magneto and ignitor, before they introduced the Wico high tension magnet and spark plug.

So for today here is the next engine foldout showing the later Type 2, if only we could carry them in our hands like the illustration, also note this is the Canadian version which refers to the fuel as "kerosene" not "paraffin" as we know it.

RE:Massey Harris Foldout Advertisements

The foldout for today is for the iconic M-H Vise and it's attachments, again no adv number or marking at all, I have identical brochures from both the USA and an original British one.
The vise is certainly a very nice piece of cast iron for any Massey Collection.
