RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

Looks like a very good Show John with some very nice Massey stuff there.

I think I saw a 1200 tucked away in the background also I think a135 with fertilizer spreader.

Very nice

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

On Saturday and yesterday Little Casterton held their Working Weekend. There are always some very nice tractors and combines working here and this weekend was no exception.

There was a M-H 25-40 with M-H Chain Lift Plough and a M-H Pace Maker pulling a very nice M-H Pulverizer owned by a very well known M-H Collector who some of you may recognise.

Also at Little Casterton there was a Dung Spreading, Muck Spreading, Muck Shifting ( depending on which county you are from) demonstration.

The machine that was loadind the M-H 712 Muck Spreader was a Rapier Muck Loader which I was told by the owner was made by Boby's of Bury St Edmunds Suffolk.

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

Thanks for the photo's from around the show Alan, I think I did more talking than working the Pacemaker and did not manage to see all the various activities around the fields so good to see your photo coverage of the various Massey equipment there.

It was also pleasing to see a "red tin M-H tractor collector" appreciating the experience of driving a "U" frame Massey on Sunday, you never know we may get him converted yet?

Hope you enjoyed the experience Alan, it was good for me to stand back some distance and listen to the distinctive sound from the Pacemaker exhaust, always different to sitting on the seat.

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

I have just been thinking maybe the Red styled Pacemaker would be a good compromise for Aan to get into the earlier "U" frames and keep his tradition of red paint Massey's going, so for his benefit here are two photographs I took before loading up for Little Casterton last weekend.

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

Malcolm

That was an experience I will never forget. Thank you very much for letting me drive your tractor.

Yes my favourites were the red tin ones but I think that may be changing.

Here are some photos from the Harvest Field at Little Casterton. A M-h 780 and a M-H 21 and in one photo both working together which must be rare these days. Also a Little Bull Tractor.

One photo that is not Massey is of a Jones Invictor Self Propelled Pickup Baler. I had never seen one before.

Little Casterton is a great show.

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

Last weekend I went to a village event in Nottinghamshire called the "Southwell  Agricultural Society Ploughing Match", well it was much more than just a ploghing match, part of the event was a traditional, grain, root and produce show together with all types of country crafts and some excellent ingredients for some "Massey Mens Food"

Here area few photographs of some of the Massey related exhibits, a wonderful pair of original M-F 35's fitted with Lamborn cabs on their original farm and a very nice working Sunshine binder.

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

It was the first time I have seen a hedge cutting competition at a ploughing match, together with hedge laying which is a dying tradition here in UK.
Also classes for the best meadow and seeds hay bale, together with classes for many farm grown crops, note all the brown bags of grain in one photo. I do not think our maize "corn" crops will match up to the quality across the pond.

Also the egg class attracted a lot of entrants, together with the longest carrots I have ever seen and some of the largest marrows and pumpkins attracted the children.

Enjoy the photo's.

Also good to see an event encouraging the youngsters and future generations to keep these traditions alive, there was several classes to encourage their enthusiasm.

RE:Massey's around the UK Shows in 2013.

Thanks for sharing the pbotos Malcolm. The MF 35 drivers would have been lucky to have a Lamborn cab fitted when they came home new. We don't see many traditional country shows like that one anymore do we. One that I might be tempted to attend next year. Alan
