RE:Massey signs

Well Santa was pretty go to me!!  This sign was on my back door step on December 26!  Here is the story on this nice original sign:

Allegedly, this sign was found in the attic of a Massey Harris dealership in France.  It was never hung by the dealership and eventually found its way to the Netherlands.  I had met several people from the Netherlands last summer and they shared my Massey passion with another individual in the Netherlands.  He contacted me and of  course I said YES!!!

It was shipped from the Netherlands through Germany, New Jersey, Louisville, Indianapolis and to Danville.

The second pic is the trademark in the lower right hand corner.

Definitely not a repaint - totally original.  And will be a nice addition to my man-barn!!

Special thanks goes to my wife for allowing me to dust it off and take some pictures of in her kitchen!!  (About the only thing Massy in the house).  Maybe we can use it as a table until spring!!!

RE:Massey signs

This sign was on the other side of the box in at my back door on Thursday!!  This heavy steel and porcelain sign has a little damage on th eleft side but it seems to be in good shape!!

Rumor has it the words are Dutch and they say "Farm Machinery" and "Original Replacement Parts."  You can't prove it by me!!

RE:Massey signs

Hi Tom,

That was a hot item on eBay.  I played with it for a while but it got too rich for my blood.  Especially after bringing over the two from across the pond!!

I am curious about what was printed after the guys name!?!?  You could not tell from the pics.  Is it possible to remove it without messing up the sign?

Great find!  It will look nice with your collection!!

Congrats!

Gary

RE:Massey signs

You have added some very nice signs to your collection Gary, making the journey and delivered justin time for Christmas, hope by now they are hanging proudly on the barn wall?

Here are photo's of the two French ones in my collection.

Gary,

You think the sign that Tom got on ebay was a hot item did you see the one tonight?? This was a yellow Massey Harris 6" X 18" sign and it fetched  $898.36 + $8.60 S&H I believe this is the highest I have ever seen one of these signs bring. Anyone see one bring more?

RE:Massey signs

Hi Joe,

I did see the sign but I did not bid on it.  Could you send me the ebay number on it? Curious to see who might have been bidding on it.

It looked to be original but that price is crazy!  I might need to take mine off the wall and put it in a vault!!

RE:Massey signs

It was ebay Item # 141163088610

RE:Massey signs

That is just crazy!!  And there were more than just one crazy!?!?!  I did not see any goldleaf on it!!!  I guess I need to put mine behind glass or, like I sais earlier, in a vault!!

Make you wonder if this cold weather and all this snow is creating less than clear thinking!! Its time to get away from the computer and get some fresh air!!

The only good thing is that is wasn't me doing the buying on this one!!  Beats me!!

RE:Massey signs

Here is my latest Timken Massey Harris sign I just got in the mail today it is made of pressed cardboard and measures 17&1/2 inches tall and 13 inches wide. This sign is in very good shape and is a very nice sign to look at as it gives you a 3D look, I have never seen another like it and it is old and original.

Gary I think you will like this one!!
